John Lord Greystoke (Tarzan) is real, a member, was raised by talking apes. He’s revealed the existence of the apes.

Professor George Edward Challenger is real and THE LOST WORLD is more or less accurate.

The tepui (giant mesa) Ayuantepui, otherwise notable for Angel Falls (not named that yet) is the site of a large interplanetary Gate to a point on Venus. The Gate is Atlantean in origin and uses up people to operate. The other side of the Gate is controlled by gorilla warriors of Gorilla Khan’s horde. Said gorillas use Atlantean tech but don’t seen to understand it.

Venus is human-habitable and boasts many species of dinosaurs, sapient apes and humans. The Gorilla Khan’s forces use some dinos – mostly triceratopses – as mounts. They eat humans. They enslave them too.

Atlantean tech:

• Levitating air cars (60 mph, room for 3 gorillas) and air barges (? Mph, room and lifting capacity for 4 well-controlled triceratopses and handlers) run by broadcast power (netherite bowling balls in a small pyramid powering a Flash Gordony 10’ long antenna). Controls are very simple and nearly idiot-proof.
• Hypervelocity rifles (8’ long, ~7 lbs, capable of shooting to the horizon, tend to shoot right through people without losing much energy but are more effective against hard or massive targets)
• Small marble of netherite in a gold oblong setting. When in contact with skin it allows one to make netherite power spheres stick to one another and monitor and regulate power output to the broadcast antenna.
• Helmet apparatus for the Gate, incorporates several small netherite bits. Induces extreme megalomania and monofocus on the task of bending space and time to create and maintain the gate. This eventually kills the maniac.

The Soviets had at least one crude netherite device, a compass (netherite needle floating on mercury in a gold, steel and crystal case) that pointed straight at the Gate. They are very interested in Atlantean stuff or Gorilla Khan, maybe both.

A force of several hundred (at least) Gorillas, mounted on dinos, armed with mostly low-tech weapons but some Atlantean rifles was stranded in Venezuela, heading for the town of La Paragua.
