Phases

Phase One: Early Life

Born in Miami where he spent his early youth, his father was a world explorer and brought home a rare disease that killed his mother and older brother. Alone now, his father took him on his travels, where Joshua was exposed to a bizarre mix of cultures and experiences. When he was old enough, he attended medical school and graduated top in his class.

Phase Two: The Great War
Patron: Sir Frederick Gaslow Hopkins

Freshly out of medical school, Joshua volunteered to go to the front as a combat medic. The army, however, assigned him to a secret joint government project with the British. He was placed under the tutelage of Sir Frederick Gaslow Hopkins in Cambridge University where they worked to build better soldiers through biochemistry. The goal was to make them stronger, healthier, less susceptible to fatigue, etc. They were successful in creating drugs to accelerate healing and to augment strength before the war ended. Secrets both governments quickly hid from the public.

Phase Three (novel): Dr. Crane in The Plight of the Amazon Queen
Guest starring: Grizzly Jim and Jenny Worrels

Dr. Crane and his companions go to the Amazon jungle to locate a missing research team. Jenny Worrels flies us to the jungle onboard her plane and Grizzly Jim comes along to track the wayward team. Along the way, Grizzly Jim shows his might by clearing a path for the searchers, including toppling a tree across the Amazon river for us to cross. As we continue to follow the trail, the searchers are captured by 8 foot tall Amazon warriors bent on destroying all men by eating their flesh. Jenny Worrels is assumed to be the team's leader and is led to meet the Amazon queen. Arriving at the tribe's village, Dr. Crane finds the missing research team, at least part of them. He learns that the Amazon queen is worried over the dwindling number of warriors in her village and is torn between their tradition of destroying the human males and saving them for slaves as breeding stock. Jenny Worrels is able to speak with the Queen and learns about the plant from which they made the sleeping drug used to capture the party. She tells Dr. Crane of her discovery, and through his amazing understanding of biology, he is able to extract the drug and mix it into the village's food supply. Soon all the Amazon warriors are asleep, allowing Dr. Crane and his teams to escape.

Phase Four (guest starring in): Jenny Worrels vs. The Congo Cannibals

Dr. Crane assists Jenny Worrels on another jungle expedition, this time into the Congo. A tribe of cannibals are terrorizing the world with a giant sun ray, and Jenny Worrels is ordered to stop their nefarious plot. Dr. Crane goes along to help Jenny Worrels survive the perils of the jungle, and hopefully through his use of science, determine how to disable the giant sun ray. However, once the sun ray is found, it is discovered that the cannibals must be destroyed, and thanks to Dr. Crane, the use of the device is discovered to help destroy the cannibal tribe and then destroy the machine itself.

Phase Five (guest starring in): Grizzly Jim vs. Celcius Frostbite

Dr. Crane's scientific genius is once again required as he assists Grizzly Jim in investigating the mutated polar bear army of Celcius Frostbite and his Ice Age Machine. Through research and a little luck, Dr. Crane is able to determine that the mutated polar bears can be pacified by tickling their bellies and making them forget their aggression. While Grizzly Jim wrestled each bear into submission, Dr. Crane and Beau Brass would tickle their bellies and pacify them one by one. But there was more to Celcius Frostbite than just his polar bear army. Fighting the bitter cold of the Arctic, Grizzly Jim confronted Celcius Frostbite while Dr. Crane worked to disable the Ice Age device. In the end the cold had taken it's toll and Dr. Crane was able to treat those affected.
