The Warrusche are horse breeders and trainers, who in the days before the rise of the Guilds in Petrana, led a very nomadic existence, following the wild herds of horses on western plains, breaking those caught to domesticity, and then selling the animals in nearby communities. Thus, of all the merchant families of prominence, the Warrusche are the least citified, and the most comfortable with horses, weapons, and a system of law enforced by sheer, brute power. Though it would seem the Warrusche would get along with the nobility because of the common interests they share, they have in fact become the most controversial, hated Guildsmen of all, in large part because they most deeply threaten the aristocracy's confidence in their superiority. This antagonism has worsened greatly in the new generation.
