There are a few cults across Kulthea that worship or study the stars. Most times this is associated with a god or goddess (see Valris for example). In these cases, these characters are "hybrid" in that they start with two affinities of the god, and then learn spells as a mentalist would as well. In cases where they are entirely unassociated with a diety, they person studying this art is an Adept.
