Buddha Line CorporationOverviewBuddha Line is corporation, the controling shares of which are owned by a cabal of individuals all of whom could be said to be involved in the corporations central "cult" of beliefs. Which is that via genetics that they can one day reproduce the Buddha, in fact whole worlds of Buddhas. History (Phases)Phase 1 - Enlightening Experience - Gerald Everson, an executive with an American biology firm becomes involved heavily in Buddhist philosophy. He notes that there are some severe problems with attaining enlightenment with the distractions of some modern technologies. Instead of the spread of Buddhism creating more enlightened people, fewer and fewer can be said to achieve it to any extent, and those who do don't seem to be able to maintain it. He speculates that, to some extent, humans have evolved over time to be more complex beings to relate to the realities of technological advancement. Meaning that the potential for enlightenment may have been bred out of us. That, given the current movement of humanity that the next Supreme Buddha, Maitreya Bodhisattva, will never appear as successor to Siddhartha Gautama. At a Lake Tahoe retreat for the company executives, Everson, standing at the top of one of the majestic ski runs had a sudden "enlightening experience." That is, he didn't claim to have become enlightened, so much as had a dawning of how to create more enlightenment in a world otherwise headed to becoming a hell on Earth (and beyond).
Phase 2 - The incorporation - Within a couple of years, Everson had bought out the company he worked for, funded largely by donations from "followers" who were very wealthy, and Buddha Line Corporation was formed.
Phase 3 - Early Years - The Company focus was immediately shifted entirely to cloning and genetic engineering research. The early years were lean ones for the company as the research was still rather focused on accelerating the knowledge base, and less on coming up with developed products. Further, Everson's philosophy was spread throughout the company bringing it a strong sense of unity amongst the employees (who tended to become more like followers).
Phase 4 - Profitability - As the technology surged ahead, inevitably some of the products that the company produced to maintain its research became very profitable (especially replacement organs). Production capacity was expanded to accommodate, and corporate security had to be tightened to protect secrets.
Phase 5 - Production Expansion - The resources required to continue genetics research were staggering, and the company continued to expand it's base of operations to accommodate, including expanding operations to many of the new space colonies.
Phase 6 - Current Positioning - Their Biotech close to being able to reproduce the bloodline of Siddartha Guatama, philosophical enemies have arrayed against Buddha Line (or at least Everson believes so) leading to increased counter-espionage and an acquisition of energy sources to ensure greater self-sufficiency for the corporation.
