Narrative: Lhan is a middle-aged Pochanti who escaped slavery from the Lankani Empire. He escaped with his daughter, Serama, but his wife, Ali, did not make the escape attempt. Following their escape from the Lankani, Lhan fell back into slavery briefly and made his way into the territory of the Rhiani people. An Animist Hermit, Daigone, took pity upon the man and his daughter and took them in. Lhan now works the Hermit's fields while learning the Hermit's art of appeasing the spirits of the dead Rhiani warriors in the nearby gravesite. While assisting Daigone in an ancestor ritual, Lhan saw an image of his dead wife beckoning for him to take a pendant from the neck of a Rhiani that Daigone had found dead. When Daigone was asleep, Lhan snuck back to the burial grounds and stole the pendant. The visions of his wife persist and have enticed Lhan to travel to the Rhiani city under the pretense that it is now time for his young daughter to marry. So, undercover of the night, Lhan left Daigone for the Rhiani city.
