Throughout the night, more bats, and more of the hideous Gogur arrived. It's later rumored that upon a bat the size of three large tents, a form arrived after midnight glowing a sickly yellow. The Gogur set about draining the living of their precious life fluids throughout the night. The bats seemed to only persue people to the edge of the green plain surrounding the city, and those making it over the ridge to the arid plains beyond manage to survive. But all of the tribes are affected, and only those refugees that had managed to leave early make up the population of Sherezak. By the morning those still on the plain or in the city are dead.

The bats seem not to be able to penetrate the falling waters that shelter the Cave, however, and the Lurid Eye mostly survive the night. Later in the morning one intrepid soul dashes from the cave to return moments later with what he's seen. The dead who didn't manage to flee across the plain are standing up from where they were drained, and walking back to the city. Apparently there's a strange song sung by a feminine voice, coming from the city that seems to call to them. Throngs of these things now walk the streets of Sherezak.

The elders of the Lurid Eye speculate that this is what comes of city living, but their words are only heeded somewhat. Everyone knows that whatever took the city could probably attack into the desert if it wanted to. But for the moment, whatever inhabits the city seems content with it's victory, and the city sleeps the sleep of the dead.
