Very quickly, Egani is in full control of the place. He can feel the mind and it's perceptions of the forest beyond. And of the otherworld which is part of the forest.

But aparently the power of the Wood doesn't feel that it's important enough to expend energy upon for some reason...

Jun 09 21:43:22 Sebastian "Well, not a disaster. Not precisely..." Sebastian grimaces slightly.
Jun 09 21:47:02 Sebastian "I got a message from Salast yesterday."
Jun 09 21:48:20 Isadora "He's still alive? Damn. What did he have to say for himself?" She keeps up the pace, starting the last part of the run.
Jun 09 21:49:39 Sebastian "Alive and up to something. He asked that I ensure that the colony is maintained so that he can continue to steal supplies. He's up to something in the swamp, something that will give him 'ultimate power'."
Jun 09 21:51:46 * Isadora flashes her teeth in a grin. "He's stealing supplies? That's fantastic news. Ultimate power is much less convenient. Your thoughts?"
Jun 09 21:55:32 Sebastian "My guess is that he may actually be onto something. He said that he needed more time, so we've probably got a bit of time before he becomes a serious problem. With any luck," Sebastian snorts somewhat derisively, "our White Wood expedition will run into him and take care of the problem."
Jun 09 21:59:13 Isadora "My luck is in short supply, these days. Did the message give any hint of where he is in the swamp?"
Jun 09 22:00:56 Sebastian "Yeah, well, I hope you don't mind if I use him for some personal business until we decide what to do with him."
Jun 09 22:03:50 Isadora "Not really. I suspect him of starting the plague, though, so I hope you don't need him for too long."
Jun 09 22:05:55 Sebastian "I should know shortly, it's just a small task. If he can't find her," Sebastian stops himself abruptly, "If he can't do what I need, I won't really have anything else that I can use him for."
Jun 09 22:08:56 * Isadora pulls up at the end of the run and shakes sweat from her hair, catching her breath for a few seconds before speaking again. "For this thing that you want done, that's nothing you need to bother me with... if Fazeris might be able to help you, let me know. I think I could talk him into it. Otherwise, squeeze Salast dry and throw him out."
Jun 09 22:10:31 Sebastian Sebastian is breathing noticably harder than Isadora. "Of course, my Lady," he smiles disquietingly. "What can I do for you today?"
Jun 09 22:15:15 * Isadora had water set out, ready for the end of the run. She takes a drink, waving him to do the same. "I need you to find out what's on our airship captain's mind. This is a delicate time for the wrong news to get back to Kaitaine."
Jun 09 22:17:01 Sebastian Sebastian takes a long drink, and thinks for a moment. "What news do you wish him to deliver?"
Jun 09 22:23:10 Isadora "Hm." She frowns. "The broad outline of the truth seems safe enough. What I really need to know is whether there's someone aboard with orders to report to Marvars in detail. Someone to get a message from Salast, perhaps."

Jun 09 22:58:36 Mike Holmes: Fazeris comes striding up, complaining as he goes, "Will this atmosphere never clear? Are we all doomed to live out our lives in this place forsaken by the gods?"
Jun 09 23:00:17 Isadora "I think the answer to that question is between you and the gods, unless you have other employers." Isadora smiles and offers him a drink of water.

Jun 09 23:03:40 Isadora "Impertinence would be to suggest that you're starting to sound a bit like my mother. If it's any consolation, I have people investigating the magical origins of the bad weather, so hopefully the airship can fly soon."

Jun 09 23:07:41 Isadora "Yes. He's along to supervise and protect the more... excitable members of the investigation." She tilts her head and attempts a topic change. "I'm having trouble finding time to spend with Leuta as much as I'd like. Is she handling this place all right?"

Jun 09 23:15:46 Isadora "Not really the answer I was hoping for." Isadora takes a quick step back--no sword on her morning run. Her eyes dart toward the tent flap.

Jun 09 23:47:26 Mike Holmes: The lunge comes closer than Isadora has ever come to tagging Fazeris. But his sloppy stance is a ruse, and he deftly dodges aside. Intending to graze her only slightly as she advances, instead Fazeris blade slips down and sticks Isadora firmly in the leg. Not deep, but directly into the quadricep.

Jun 10 00:00:15 Isadora "The most qualified healer is headed off to the woods," Isadora says, leaping into the diversion. She grabs a towel from the water stand and holds it against her leg, grimacing a bit. "Quartermaster is a good second bet. It's nothing, though."
Jun 10 00:01:48 Mike Holmes: He calms a bit, and then looking at her in the eye, says, "You almost got me there, you know."
Jun 10 00:02:47 Mike Holmes: "Somebody get the quartermaster!" he fires off, expecting people to jump.
Jun 10 00:02:50 * Isadora breaks eye contact first, looking down at her leg as an easy distraction. "I had a good teacher," she mutters.

Jun 10 00:07:25 Isadora Desperately hoping that all nearby witnesses are already off looking for Speckler, Isadora finally meets his gaze squarely. "I don't know what to think anymore," she says, almost too quiet to hear. "I'm in over my head."
Jun 10 00:18:36 * Isadora chooses the safe exit, telling herself it's not cowardly, by pushing herself back a bit, away from Fazeris. "I--I have work to do. Speckler will take care of the leg. I have to go." She flees into her waiting tent.
