- Kerem: "So, uh. What made you...decide to come to the inn with me?"
- Tez: "Before or after we spoke along the way?"
- Kerem: "Before, but...whichever."
- Tez runs her fingers through her tangled hair, lifting her head off what passes for a pillow to make it easier, before answering. "I think you will like the other answer better." she smiles slightly, seeming clearer than when they'd first met.
- Kerem: "...uh. Okay, I guess." Kerem gazes at her, watching her hand move through her hair, glancing every now and then into her eyes.
- Tez: "Because.. you've been nice to me, agreed to help with my quest even though you don't know me, neither of us belong, and we both have coins. Is that good enough for you?"
- Kerem: "Uh, I mean...I was just wondering."
- Kerem: "I just didn't really expect it. I was a little surprised, that's all."
- Kerem: "I'm not COMPLAINING..."
- Tez jabs him lightly with her elbow and grins, "You better not."
- Tez: "Why did you agree?"
- Kerem squirms, catches Tez's arm and runs his hand up to her, linking their fingers.
- Kerem: "I mean, I like you. And you seemed...sweet. Like you liked me."
- Tez smiles. "I think I do. I'd like to know you better." she squeezes his hand.
- Kerem: "Well. This is probably a good start."
- Kerem snuggles up to Tez, kissing her lightly.
- Tez laughs, "I hear the way to get to know eachother is not to do this on the first date..." she kisses back, rolling to face him properly.
- Kerem: "Really? I hadn't heard that."
- Kerem lightly fingers the coin hanging from Tez's neck. "So where'd you get this? You're awfully attached to it."
- Tez: "You run in the wrong circles then." She smirks, and tilts her head a little, looking down at the coin. "It's the last coin my Mother gave me."
- Kerem: "I never denied it." Kerem shrugs, as much as is possible while lying on one's side.
- Kerem: "...ah."
- Kerem: "Your mother's....?"
- Tez 's gaze changes slightly, becoming more distant. "She's dead. Mother is dead, since long ago. A different life."
- Kerem: "...I'm sorry to hear that."
- Tez: "Yes." she says, seeming to struggle with something for a moment. "I'm sorry, Kerem. I shouldn't have said it..like that."
- Kerem: "Said what like that?"
- Tez looks unhappy, "I felt different again. I usually would have thought before I talked."
- Kerem: "Um...I mean, it's okay, but what do you mean?"
- Tez shakes her head, "I...tell me about your coin?"
- Kerem furrows his brow, but slips an arm around her. "Well...when I first got into the business, I made a couple of...bad decisions."
- Kerem: "You know, you have to spend money to make money, and all that, except, I didn't make money after all."
- Kerem: "Long and the short of it is, I ended up owing quite a bit of cash to a guy named Red Louis. Red for the blood of the people who didn't pay him, I think. I didn't really ask."
- Tez nods "Did you steal it then?"
- Kerem: "Well, kind of. The guy who had it didn't seem to really need it any more."
- Kerem: "Lying dead in the sewer is not generally a high-upkeep lifestyle."
- Tez: "Why, was he... oh."
- Tez smiles slightly, "I've found a lot that way."
- Kerem grins. "Funny how much we have in common. Mostly illegal stuff."
- Tez tugs on a lock of her hair, wrapping it around her finger, "You gotta live."
- Kerem: "Anyway. I picked up this coin, I figured it was worth at least a little bit, so I took it to Red Louis. Then I drop by a tavern to celebrate not being in debt any more. Order a drink, reach into my pocket, and there it is again."
- Kerem: "Kind of a nice surprise, really, except for the thugs that showed up to beat the crap out of me right afterwards."
- Tez raises a brow, "It returns to you? No wonder you don't fear it being stolen."
- Tez winces in sympathy.
- Kerem: "Yup. Always comes back."
- Tez: "I got good at running. But sometimes it just seems like I run into more trouble than I ran out of."
- Kerem crawls over Tez to pick up his coin, fiddling idly with it as they go on talking.
- Kerem: "Honestly, I was always better at talking than running."
- Tez: "Then I'll run to you, and you can talk to them." she grins mischevously.
- Kerem: "But frankly, being lucky is better than both options."
- Kerem: "Mmm." Kerem grins, and plants a kiss on her neck.
- Tez: "I'm not. Except when I went back to Ruin House. I mean... I never knew I should inherit such power."
- Kerem: "Power? What kind of power?"
- Tez looks confused for a second, then narrows her eyes, "I am the foretold inheritor of the Priesthood of Akalatan." She pushes herself upright in the bed, looking around in distaste. "I should not be here."
- Kerem: "Hey, what's wrong?" Kerem sits up too, caressing her hair and arm.
- Tez: "I should be back in Ardania, not here. This place is filthy. I have been torn from my birthright, and now I must live *here* while I pass a test." She pulls away from his touch and stands. Then she turns, and regards him closely.
- Kerem looks back at her, lost and hurt.
- Kerem: "I..."
- Kerem shrugs.
- Kerem: "I mean, I'm not a big fan of Green Lake either. But, hey, you gotta live somewhere, right?"
- Tez wavers for a moment, then her rigid posture softens and she falls to her knees, leaning forward onto the bed, grasping for his hands. "Help me, Kerem...I don't know who I am anymore." her grasp on clarity fades, and she looks up at him, as lost as he.
- Kerem looks anxious and overwhelmed, but rallies valiantly.
- Kerem: "Oh, darling, it's okay. It's gonna be all right, okay?" He pulls her up onto the bed and holds her close, kissing her.
- Tez's tears soon fade as well, and she smiles dreamily.
- Kerem: "Listen, I...I don't really know what to do, but...it's gonna be all right."
- Tez: "What is? Is it time to sleep yet? I'm so tired."
- Tez nestles her head against his shoulder.
- Kerem strokes her hair. "Yes. I think maybe it is."
