- Tez gazes over (through?) the market with a small smile on her face. "I like the green ones. Do you know where they are?"
- Kerem: "Uh...I think they were over there." He vaguely navigates the market.
- Tez 's eyes pass over the bright colors of the market, and stop at one of the stalls with clothing and jewels, though she allows herself to be pulled past. "I need a dress." she informs him. "For Chimrea."
- Kerem: "You're...buying her a dress?"
- Tez looks confused for a moment. "No, me."
- Kerem: "We can go shopping after we find the...oh, here it is." Kerem arrives triumphantly at the melon stall.
- Kerem: "Why do you need a dress for Chimrea?"
- Tez: "I have to... look right. So they believe me. And she can stay."
- Kerem: "...what's happening with that, anyway? I missed the exciting part of the excitement."
- Tez digs up a couple small coins, enough she hopes, for a melon, and gives them to Kerem. "Lady Aspasia wants her home. In Kaitaine, like you. I said she must stay, because she owes me. She didn't like that. I don't like her." she frowns. "She was mean."
- Kerem: "Huh."
- Tez: "I do not look noble anymore." she tugs on her bedraggled hair.
- Kerem: "She certainly didn't seem very pleasant." He glances at the coins in his hand and hands a few back to Tez before haggling with the merchant.
- Kerem: "Do you, uh, have the money for a dress like that?"
- Kerem acquires a melon for Tez, and leads her to a table, where he hands it over and grabs a few skewers of meat for himself.
- Tez looks down at the coins in her hand. "I.. how much?" she follows behind him.
- Kerem: "I'm...not sure off the top of my head. We can go find out, a fter we eat."
- Kerem: "It's, uh...nice of you to go to lengths like that for Chimrea."
- Tez puts most of the coins in her pouch and plays with the last with her off hand, while she uses the other to cut the melon. Eventually she drops the coin and uses both hands. "I used to be someone. People would listen to me. I remembered how."
- Kerem: "Good. I think that's...good."
- Tez: "Then everyone came in, and... they were one way, and another, and I was so confused..." she stabs a piece of melon with her knife, and eats it. "My head hurts."
- Kerem strokes her arm. "It's okay."
- Kerem: "But, uh...how did the bird want you to kill Teo?"
- Kerem: "I mean, okay, that doesn't make sense. I mean, how did you...know that it wanted you to do that?"
- Tez: "Bird? Oh..." she looks troubled, and stabs another piece. "The bird is from Akalatan. She showed me her snakes."
- Kerem: "Snakes?"
- Tez nods solemnly. "Snakes."
- Kerem: "O...kay."
- Kerem munches uncomfortably on his food.
- Tez: "She showed me his heart." she adds helpfully, and bites off a piece of melon from a larger slice.
- Kerem: "And it told you in Akalatan that it wanted you to kill Teo? Is that why you wanted to avoid that guy?"
- Tez: "I know him..." she looks down at her hands, "But I don't know him. I don't want to kill people. Sometimes."
- Tez: "Except when they're mean."
- Kerem: "Uh..."
- Kerem: "Well, that's probably for the best, really."
- Kerem: "I don't want to kill too many people either."
- Tez: "Have you?"
- Kerem picks up another skewer, paying with a worn coin with a picture of a wolf on it.
- Kerem: "...yes."
- Tez: "Could you feel it?"
- Kerem looks up at Tez, frowning.
- Kerem: "Yes. I felt it."
- Tez: "The power feels good. Better than anything."
- Kerem: "I..."
- Tez looks at him, puzzled. "It is, isn't it?"
- Kerem: "So how many people do you think we need for this quest thing?"
- Kerem: "You, me, Chimrea, Agnes, Teo. That's five. Five's not so bad. But it could be better."
- Tez blinks at the sudden shift in topic, and then shrugs, another piece of melon meeting its juicy doom. "Lots."
- Kerem: "I'm sure I could try to get some of my less savory friends to come with us. You'd need to be able to pay them, though."
- Tez frowns. "Maybe Agnes will."
- Kerem: "That'd work. As long as somebody's got the cash."
- Tez: "I have friends too."
- Kerem: "I'd love to meet them."
- Tez stares off into the distance, "I promised them I'd go back... I didn't." she frowns. "I went with Uncle, and it was all different then."
- Kerem looks at her, then suddenly reaches out to grip her shoulder.
- Tez looks up, startled. "What?"
- Kerem: "Tez, I want you to know that I really like you."
- Kerem: "We're gonna work all this out, and everything's going to be okay afterwards, okay?"
- Tez: "Then we can go to Ardania?"
- Kerem: "Um...maybe. That can be part of what we work out."
- Kerem smiles.
- Tez: "My friends are there."
- Kerem: "Well. At least we can go visit."
- Tez: "Can you go home? Is it still there?"
- Kerem: "Kind of."
- Kerem: "I mean, most everything I know is destroyed.""
- Kerem: "But most of my family's still there."
- Kerem: "So, what's home, anyway, I guess is the question."
- Tez: "Where the heart is?" she points at his, with a melonful knife, then eats the fruit off the end.
- Kerem glances down, a little unsettled, as she points a weapon at him, but manages not to move.
- Kerem: "I guess so, yeah."
- Tez: "Can I have some of that?" she points at his meat and looks back at her rinds. "I'm still hungry."
- Kerem: "Yeah, sure." He passes over a skewer.
- Kerem slumps in his seat, thinking.
- Tez gnaws on a piece, sort of disappointed that it is not more rare, but it is good nonetheless.
