- Chimrea is rushing along, head down, not really watching who she might bump into until she collides with Alquas. "Oh!"
- Alquas is clearly out of breath himself. "Insolent Sujak fool! Watch where you are going!", he manages.
- Alquas: His vision clears as he pauses to draw deep breaths.
- Chimrea: "What?" she gasps, looking up, wiping something that might be tears away from her eyes. "Alquas! What did you call me?"
- Alquas: "Oh... Chimm-reah..."
- Alquas slooowly reaaranges his facial expression from one of frustrated anger to suprised delight.
- Tez is not, in fact, out of breath at all. She's just meandering with a slice of melon, and spots her two... friends. give or take, fighting. more or less.
- Chimrea: "I'm sorry," she says, catching her breath and smoothing her own expression. "It's my fault, I wasn't watching where I went. Are you all right?"
- Alquas: "I... had not realised it was you, dear Chimrea. I am fine, merely... flustered."
- Alquas regains his breath after some effort.
- Tez rolls her eyes. They're flirting again.
- Tez walks over to them. "Melon?" she sticks it between them.
- Chimrea: "Uh, I think I've had enough today," Chimrea says, looking at it like the end of the marketplace conversation has permanently soured them for her.
- Tez: "Meat on a stick?" she sticks out her other hand.
- Alquas wonders how long it's been since he last ate.
- Alquas regards the meat suspisciously.
- Alquas: "This is from... an animal?"
- Tez: "Probably."
- Tez: "Kerem got it."
- Alquas thinks back to the blood in the market earlier.
- Chimrea: "What do you want, anyway?" Chimrea asks Tez, a little annoyed at the interruption. "Come to make fun of my family like Agnes?"
- Tez: "No. I wanted to meet your father. How come you didn't introduce us?"
- Alquas: "Ah, the man was you father?"
- Tez looks confused for a minute, "Anyway you said he was dead, but he was right there, I saw him."
- Chimrea: Chimrea's mouth flattens a bit. Evenly, she says, "My father is dead. Are you telling me you saw his spirit in the market? Shopping for melons, perhaps?"
- Tez giggles. "No, he was just drunk. And not a spirit."
- Alquas reflects that it has been a long time since he ate, and after considering Tez's food again for a moment, elects to buy his own from a nearby vendor.
- Tez looks mildly disappointed as alquas buys his own food, then shrugs and gnaws on the meat
- Chimrea: "Okhfels is alive?" Chimrea asks, struggling with the words.
- Alquas keeps an ear on the conversation, absently, his mind filled with angry thoughts about Kani and his wastrel of a father. Yes, there would be a reckoning for this insult...
- Tez: "Um. I guess. You should know, you picked him up off the street."
- Tez gives her a funny look, like 'not even i'm that crazy'
- Chimrea: "Tez, I'm really losing my patience. What are you talking about?" Chimrea is obviously either playing dense, or really confused.
- Tez stares at her for a few moments, "Well if you didn't want to introduce us, you coulda just said."
- Alquas returns, daintily but hungrily eating his own melon slice
- Chimrea: Chimrea's face clears and she shakes her head. "You're talking about Fazeris. He's a friend of my mother's." She laughs. "I'm sorry, it's just that if you'd met my father, you'd know how strange it is to mix those two up."
- Tez sucks on her palm a bit, the juice from whatever was on the stick stinging in her wound. She blinks at Chimrea. "Yeah... uh."
- Tez struggles to think of a good way to say this.
- Chimrea shoots Alquas a quick "don't mind Tez, she's like this" shrug.
- Tez: "He's your father. I saw it."
- Alquas watches with renewed interest.
- Chimrea: "Saw how, exactly? The way he was dressed? The bleary squint of his eye?"
- Tez points to the wound on her hand from the Dance. "Blood doesn't lie."
- Chimrea goes rigid for several seconds, staring at Tez as her cut hand fists. "Maybe not, but foreigners do," she says through clenched teeth.
- Alquas notes Chimrea's anger and says, smoothly but somewhat uncertainly, "Dear Chimrea, is this woman bothering you?"
- Tez: "I could show you... maybe." she says uncertainly. "I'm sorry... I thought you knew."
- Chimrea: "She's saying that a drunk Ikaiti I met in the marketplace is really my father," Chimrea says to Alquas, not taking her eyes off Tez. "You tell me if you think that bothers me."
- Chimrea: "Show me," she snaps, extending her hand to Tez.
- Tez: "Well.. he's gotta be here too."
- Tez: "To see the connection."
- Tez watches chimrea's hand warily. It reminds her of a snake.
- Chimrea: "I see, so you want to air this accusation in front of still another person?" It starts to really dawn on Chimrea that Alquas is present at this conversation, and her cheeks go red as she shoots him a sideways glance.
- Tez: "well..." she backs away a little. "Look, it's not /my/ fault."
- Tez: "We could um... do it.. and not.. tell him?"
- Alquas looks uncertain about whether to intercede, and returns Chimrea a glance which desplays confusion, concern and a desire to be somewhere else all at once.
- Alquas: "Ladies, I should be going. I have... a matter to resolve. Perhaps you should both resolve this matter another time, that cooler heads might prevail, hm?"
- Tez bites her lips
- Chimrea: "There's nothing to resolve, because she's being ridiculous. I'm sorry you had to hear this, Alquas."
- Tez shrugs, "Whatever you say. But I'm not the liar now."
- Alquas casts a glance back at the Tez woman.
- Alquas: "Ladies, perhaps this is not.." he begins.
- Chimrea: "You barely know what your name is half the time," Chimrea says. "Otherwise, I'd be offended. As it is, I'm just sorry for you." She whirls to leave.
- Tez sticks her tongue out at Chimrea
- Alquas smiles uneasily. Women are... complicated.
- Alquas: "Chimreah, is everything all right?" he calls after her, lamely. "Because I must attend to.."
- Chimrea waves her hand at him over her shoulder, not even turning in her retreat.
- Tez sulkily chews on the stick.
- Alquas: "Good, then, if everything is resolved... I must be going."
- Alquas casts an uncertain glance back at Tez and then runs off toward camp, and Kani.
