Tezcatlipoca was black-sheep daughter of a noble house. She was a tomboy who played with a boy who taught her some warrior skills, while she avoided her other lessons. She was pretty good at that so long as she wasn't tripping over rocks. Her family was assassinated due to some sort of political maneuvering amongst the elite of Ardania. She had snuck off to play with the boy, whom she had a bit of a crush on. When on her way back, she was just minding her own business, when out of nowhere these ragged people just ran through the streets, and well they were escaping slaves, and so JUST because she hadn't BATHED for a week or so, they thought SHE was one of them too! I mean really! When she finally got back to the house everyone was deador had run away! Every once in a while she wonders if the boy knew...after all, it had been his idea to meet that night. She was 15 then, and spent the years after first in hiding, frightened for her life, then gradually becoming angrier as her situation became more and more desperate. The little she had been able to take from her home when she first came back soon disappeared (apparently the assassins had taken most of the family fortune), as she was unused to living on her own and not having all the money she could want, more or less. It was when she (accidentally) caught the little boy stealing her last few coins that she had been hoarding, that she came upon the bright idea of learning to steal herself. She traded thieving lessons for not turning the boy in. So she fell in with a small group of young thieves, that soon learned to use her as a decoy rather than a pickpocket or for burglary. She was better at the sweet-talking and the running-the-hell-away than at the actual thieving, although she DID try her best, and picked up no few tricks. She also proved quite adept at finding stuff 'lying around' whether that meant unattended, or literally thrown away. One man's trash is another man's treasure, after all, and she liked to figure out new uses for broken things. Since then, as luck would have it, she was abducted by a band of slavers and pirates (the city officials seem to look the other way when they come to take street people away from Ardania), and taken to a hideout for later transport up the coast. Freed by Lana along with Teodric and another woman, her adventures begin in earnest... |
