FanTAStic!"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_2114\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2114\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/randomaverage.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/partingoftheways.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2114\" title=\"partingoftheways\" src=\"http:\/\/randomaverage.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/partingoftheways.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2114\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Doctor is going Virtual.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I&#8217;m a relative latecomer to Doctor Who fandom (joining the throng during the Eccelston reboot of the franchise), but that didn&#8217;t prevent a girlish five-year-old&#8217;s squeal of glee when I read about BBC Worldwide&#8217;s announcement that they&#8217;ve teamed up with\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.threerings.net\/\">Three Rings<\/a> (the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/culture\/design\/multimedia\/2007\/06\/gallery_nemo_office\" target=\"_blank\">steampunk-submarine-dwelling<\/a> crew behind the charming Puzzle Pirates and horribly wonderful Corpse Craft) to create the first MMO set in the Who-niverse:\u00a0<em>Doctor Who: Worlds In Time.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>BBC Worldwide has said that the game (launch expected this year) will allow players to &#8220;use their wits to solve time-bending puzzles and pulse-pounding challenges.&#8221; Although it doesn&#8217;t sound as though you&#8217;ll be able to make up your own version of the Doctor, at least you can\u00a0ride in the TARDIS and save the universe several times a week, so that&#8217;s something.<\/p>\n<p>The game will be free to play and (based on the models used by Three Ring&#8217;s other creations) probably make use of a micro-transaction model, but other than those facts (and guesses), there&#8217;s been no mention gameplay details.
