The <i>indie<\/i> roleplaying community is going gah-gah over it.  &#8220;If old-school basic Dungeons and Dragons were rewritten by Days of Wonder, after they&#8217;d played Spirit of the Century for six months.&#8221;<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s meant to be a <i>high<\/i> magic game&#8230; crazy high magic like rivers of flowing earth and villages of dragonblood humanoids.  Dunno if I love that, but &#8230;<br \/>\nEh. I dunno.  I mention it mostly because of the great reactions from people whose opinions and gaming tendencies I frequently agree with, and from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.story-games.com\/forums\/comments.php?DiscussionID=6630&#038;page=1#Item_0\">this actual-play write up<\/a>, in which the gamer&#8217;s <em>seven year old son<\/em> plays through the first DnD 4th edition module, simultaneously running five characters, keeps all the rules straight (even for Attacks of Opportunity), and outmaneuvers his dad.<br \/>\nI confess: the battlefield rules sound really fun.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dungeons and Dragons, 4th Edition.
