{"id":940,"date":"2003-07-07T10:52:18","date_gmt":"2003-07-07T10:52:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/random-average.com\/?p=940"},"modified":"2003-07-07T10:52:18","modified_gmt":"2003-07-07T10:52:18","slug":"schticks-and-schtones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/randomaverage.com\/index.php\/2003\/07\/schticks-and-schtones\/","title":{"rendered":"Schticks and Schtones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Perverse Access Memory: WISH 53: Schtick\" href=\"http:\/\/www.whiterose.org\/pam\/archives\/003716.html\">Perverse Access Memory: WISH 53: Schtick<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>What are three examples of physical or verbal schtick that you?ve used to develop your characters?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Well, with Gwydion the Skald, it&#8217;s the scottish accent, laid on nice and thick.<br \/>\nWith Sscraseetota&#8217;bobah (you may say &#8220;Bob&#8221;), my wandering mystic in Star Wars, it&#8217;s the monosyllabic, halting speech (he&#8217;s not fluent in Basic).<br \/>\nAnd then there&#8217;s &#8216;thick as a brick&#8217; Tony Vincetti, with his traditional American-Italian acceent and such pithy comments as <i>&#8220;Collateral Damage?  What&#8217;s that? Like, &#8216;damage we will do in lieu of damage we&#8217;re gonna do later&#8217;?&#8221;<\/i><br \/>\nI use schticks for most of my characters and almost all of my NPCs (or at least any of the ones I really want to stand out).  I don&#8217;t really know when I started doing it, but I know I do it more and more as time goes on (and as I care less about what people think of a grown man who talks with funny voices).<br \/>\nMy current beef?
