So, outside of using Op Tech, how much stuff do you start with?
Personally, I think the 'fast and relatively useful' version would be:
[*scratches a bunch of stuff out and starts over, cuz he just had an idea*]
HMMMM...
Okay, you get One:
- piece of gear
- low-end gadget
- or bundle
... for each character Aspect. The item in question should (at least somewhat) reflect the Aspect.
DAMN, that kinda works. It really reinforces the character concepts. Let's play with an example:
GINA has these aspects:
- Agency
- Agile
- Cautious
- Dilettante Racer
- Dramatic
- Femme Fatale (twice)
- Hates mobsters
- Heiress
- Pretty Neapolitan "Aristo"
- Quick
- Wheelman
... and writes down this related gear (though probably not in this way):
- Agency: Suppressors for her weapons
- Agile: Climbing belt
- Cautious: Secret compartment in the car
- Dilettante Racer: Mechanics kit
- Dramatic: Disquise Kit
- Femme Fatale (twice): Provacatuer Bundle and Poison lipstick
- Hates mobsters: SMG
- Heiress: Location maps and travel guides
- Pretty Neapolitan "Aristo": lot of clothes
- Quick: GPS (applying 'quick' to car navigation... whatever :)
- Wheelman: A Car
Another example:
DYLAN (maybe, I don't remember exactly) has:
- Agency (2): Tux Liner & Low-light lenses
- Paranoid: Bug sniffer
- Married (2): Secure cell phone & Restraints (Shut up! I've got good logical reasons here!)
- Grad Student: Telescope Pen
- Faceman (3): Disguise kit, Cover ID & Knock out drops
- Profiler: Provacatuer bundle
- Track Team: Climbing belt
- Intelligent: Forensics kit
