(Starring D L Curtiss, the two-fisted pilot; “Winnie” the spirit-channeling psychic; and Jane, the no-apologies soldier-girl!)

[Part One]

When we last left our hero, the trio had flown deep into the South American jungles, into a land of LOST WONDERS of the Cretaceous Age. There, they encountered FLYING BOATS piloted by the BRUTISH MINIONS of GORILLA KHAN. After a tough aerial gun battle, they discovered more of the hirsute henchmen working at some nefarious scheme involving a GLOWING PORTAL in the center of the LOST PLATEAU OF TEYUWASU.

Overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of fierce flying soldiers swarming in the skies over the portal the trio retreated, landing their plane along the shadowy waterways of the primal jungle to formulate a plan…

((There was other stuff leading up to this involving some Russians and interference from from British military officers, but again, this is the back cover blurb, and flying gorillas are cooler.))

''The GM notes:
  • Lord Greystoke was mentioned as is a member of the Century Club who claims there are talking apes somewhere in Africa. No, nobody at the Club calls him 'Tarzan' or has seen him in a loincloth.
  • Prof. Challenger's (a Club member) 'Lost World' expedition happened, only a few got out alive, most members were skeptical about the dinosaurs.
  • The Bolshies had at least one 'compass' that points straight at the Lost World plateau. Now Winnie has it. The Bolshies flying to the plateau seem to have come to grief.
  • Some apes were seen to be riding triceratops.

[PART TWO]

In the second installment, DL Curtiss was joined on a lonely Venezuelan airstrip by the Daring Magpie, Chiun, Rami Samiti, Jenny Worrels, and Andre Treksev. While the group conferred and DL brought them up to speed on the things he'd seen in the jungle, they were approached by two British officers, backed up by a squad of troops, informing them that there were (with the backing of the Venezuelan government) commandeering their planes. Several of our heroes took exception to this, and while the argument was going on, the entire group was snuck up on and ambushed by a group of Bolshevik-led mercenaries who ALSO wanted their planes.

During the ensuing gun battle, the British troops were decimated by the Russians/natives, who in turn were either taken out or chased off by the combined efforts of Our Heroes. (The Daring Magpie baffled them, Rami ensorcelled them, Jenny and Andre both took to their respective aircraft to tip the fight in their favor, while Chiun and DL resorted to very... direct methods.)

With the Russians chased off and the Brits cowed, the group set off toward the plateau in two planes, leaving one secured against theft... and in fact intentionally inoperable.

After a quick scouting flight, the group set down on the side of the plateau furthest from the large glowing 'gate' atop the plateau and snuck in for a closer look. In brief:

  • The place was largely being run by apes. Armed and armored, and sometimes wearing odd psychically reactive gemstones, but still very ape-like.
  • The gate was some sort of portal going somewhere else entirely. The apes were using floating air-barges to ferry dinosaurs (yes, really) from the Other Place and off the plateau.
  • The gate was powered by a prisoner who was strapped and wired into a stone chair mounted into the side of the gate. This process eventually killed the prisoner, at which point in time another prisoner was strapped in and the old prisoner was cooked and eaten by the guards.
  • All the local ape air cars seemed to be powered by a carefully stacked pile of grey quartz crystal (netherite) globes.

Here's what happened:

  • The Daring Magpie and Chiun interfered with the pile of netherite globes. When the pile was taken down, so to did the air cars tumble from the sky.
  • Rami and Andre addressed the prisoner in the chair. In the process, Rami ended up in a mental contest with the man in the chair, who was suffering from megalomaniac delusions -- and very nearly succumbed himself. He also determined that gate transferred those passing through to VENUS.
  • DL found and freed the rest of the human prisoners.
  • Jenny captured one of the apes's air cars and used it to ferry the group and the rescued prisoners back to the planes to make their escape.

And then the group made their heroic departure, while an army of apes, riding dinosaurs, disappeared into the jungles of South America.

[So much pulp action packed into this session, the seams were bursting.]
