The Citadel Guard, housed, appropriately, in the New Citadel (only 600 years old) on the northern end of Citadel Island, is a contingent of soldiers and some knights, ALL of whom must be of the blood of Petrana's nobility. They consider themselves to be Petrana's last stand in the case of an attack on the city, and have only recently taken normal guard duties, such as patrolling Citadel Isle (an activity of which many of the city's inhabitants, including some of the Citadel Guard, aren't terribly fond). Nevertheless, the Citadel Guard has announced its presence with a certain authority in the City, and it doesn't look as though that presence will ebb any time soon.
