Initiate:
The player may use any reasonably perfect reflective surface as a portal to the mirror world.  The mirror world is not a reflection of the original location, but rather a unifying realm with it's own topology, nature, and hazards.  Within the mirror realm are obvious windows onto outer worlds, and the initiate may return through any of them, thus crossing space or shadow.  Raw initiates do not have any control over the windows they find.

Adept:
The player may attempt to find a mirror of a known place by reading the mirror landscape.  Throughout the topology of the mirror realm, the landscape suggests to an adept what type of places may be found in which directions (a simple initiate or untrained wanderer would miss 9 out of every 10 possible points of exit or entrance), and if they have been through a mirror at the destination before, there is a high degree of probability they can find it again with little trouble.  The adept even has a chance of finding places they have been to in Shadow, but have not been through mirrors in, with this method.

Mirror Realm Engineering:
The adept can create new windows in the mirror realm.  This (eventually) allows Searching, as well as the convenient placing of mirror portals near each other, expediting travel.  Engineered windows are not permanent, and are not indicated in the topology, and are thus not findable by following the topology.  They may be destroyed by mirror realm creatures or events.  The Engineer can take precautions to deter such destruction, but left unprotected they should expect that the engineered window will remain for at most a few days to a week.

Spying:
The player may remain near a window from the mirror realm and observe happenings on the other side.  Normally this would render the player somewhat visible in the mirror at the destination, but a Master with this power can remain unseen.  Only that which is visible from the mirror surface is visible to the user, thus no audio and only the one perspective is available.

Master:
The master has become so skilled at reading topology that they have a limited ability to seek shadows of desire.  It is quite easy to determine the general nature of their destination from the topology, perhaps even down to details of culture.  It would not be possible to locate specific people, and working simply from a description may obtain a near Shadow instead of the exact target... but the Master has much more finesse available to them when searching similar shadows, even if they must personally explore the last half dozen or so final candidates in person to locate one particular Shadow.

Use Imperfect Reflections:
The master can not only use reasonably perfect reflections to travel, but can use quite imperfect ones as well, such as the surface of still water, or the reflection on a polished silver goblet.  This depends on Endurance.  Someone with extraordinary endurance and psyche could hypothetically use this to achieve spectacular effects, such as vanishing into a polished sword blade during a thrust.

Searching:
By clever engineering, an engineered window can change its target, thus allowing a Master Engineer to rapidly flip between views of destinations and search for people or items.  The speed of this process is directly related to Endurance.  The search is not random, but is directed by the engineer, at about half the rate of a Logrus tendril or shadow walk.
