![]() Arden is The Forest about an hour's ride straight out from Kolvir. Julian commands a large force of men and beasts that patrol the woods--more and more, however, the forest has become a misty maze infested with bizarre creatures of all kinds--nearly impassable. Anyone who tries to travel to Amber via shadow paths or Hellride must come by sea or through Arden. |
Aretia Quinn's primary home for the last century. It is a shadow of Earth's Mars, terraformed but cool despite an artificial second 'sun' -- the Moon Deimos is slowly fusing over the planet. Aretia boasts very high technology and an economy of super-abundance. |

Valley of Garnath A great, green vale south of Amber and east of Arden forest. It is bordered on its southern side by the river Oisen. It is broad enough to be visible from Cabra. |
Shadow In the most general sense, Shadows are the innumerable worlds from their true, or progenitor, worlds. (These 'true' worlds are Amber, Tir, Caer Beatha, the Forge, and the Courts of Chaos.) In a more philosophical sense, there is Shadow. That is, the form that can be actualized by an initiate of a Pattern or the Logrus into a real world of his or her imagining. Any kind of place that an initiate can think of will then become real, and that person can go to it. There is some indication that many Shadows also occur naturally because of the mere existence of the 'true' worlds. |
![]() Tree which (perhaps) marks a juncture between the shadows of the various Patterns (as well as Chaos). In many shadows, the Yggdrasil has come to refer to the great Tree of the World, whose branches encompass the universe. Legend in a number of shadows purports that the Tree will remain after humankind destroys itself in dreadful wars. Ygg itself does not comment. It's true powers or gifts are unknown: it stands at the Center of things, some say as a border marker... some say as the border itself... some say as a grounding rod and/or wielder of the massive energies given off in the eternal synergy of the cosmos. Again, Ygg does not comment. But if the Universes have a center, Ygg is it. |
