The d'Avillez clan arrived in this region with the legions of the Kingdom that subjugated and ruled Petrana and its surrounding territories for many years. The family has an illustrious military tradition, and its far-flung descendants control lands in many corners of the Three Continents. The Petrana branch of the family is of comparatively minor stature when stacked against some of its distant relatives. Nonetheless, the d’Avillez have prospered here for five centuries, surviving the ebb and flow of the Maldonaise (and more recently, the decline of the aristocracy as a whole). Currently, the d’Avillez family includes not only men-at-arms, but also masters of the arcane arts and defenders of the soul.
