EXT. DEEP SPACE SILENT BLACK.
We sweep slowly across an endless tapestry of stars. A SHIP ROARS INTO FRAME: the N.R.S.S. CROSSROAD, a small scout vessel that moves under full ion thrust past the camera. As it does so, the camera tracks the ship’s path, thus bringing the green and blue sphere of DANTOOINE into frame. The ship is somewhat the worse for wear from it's most recent adventures, much like the crew that mans her...

INT. CROSSROAD COCKPIT
Piloting the ship toward DANTOOINE is CROSS. She speaks into the vidcom:

CROSS
(tiredly)
…my authorization code is AC-5023, ground control; returning Flight 32 Eximer. Permission to land requested.

INTERCOM
Confirmed, Crossroad; proceed on current heading to landing area 2. Welcome back. We've been waiting for you.

CROSS
(Clicking off intercom. Turns to DEV.)
What's that about?

Upon arriving on Dantooine, the Padawan's and Master Dev discover that Jedi Master Lorien has been killed. The Jedi was run through with a lightsaber in his own chambers. After seeing the Princess to her guest chambers, the Padawans seek further information.

The only inhabitants of the Jedi base were:

  • The other two council members, Bowen and Shadux.
  • 4 very young Jedi-potentials.
  • Rowen, the young Jedi Knight charged with their training.
  • Dev and Kiri.
  • Nalak, a newly-named Jedi Knight.
  • 4 adolescent to padawans of varying skill and race. Rhien, Vytas, Sky, Maiheyanu, and Regina.

During her investigations, Cross runs across Master Bowen, who informs her that Master Dev is to be chosen to replace Lorien as member of the Council.

Meanwhile, Dev and Gai spar with their lightsabers. Soon thereafter, the princess joins them and also spars, proving herself to be reasonably skilled with the weapon.

After her conversation with with Bowen, Cross visits Lorien's rooms to see what can be seen. The room is absolutely THICK with the presence of the Dark Side. Evil abounds, and its presence is so strong it nearly leaves Cross unconscious. She stumbles out of the room to find the others.

Her continued investigation is cut short, however, by the arrival of a distress call from the Seikosha Sector. The three padawans (and, surprisingly, the Princess) are dispatched. What they discover upon arrival in system is a completely devastated Fighter division from the Republic, with one lone Sith fighter -- a NEW sith fighter -- floating amongst the debris. The group retrieves important parts of the Sith fighter and blows the rest to bits with a thermal detonator.

At about this time, several more fighters of the same make and generation show up. The Crossroad manages to escape without too much damage... or so Cross thinks. This particular assumption proves incorrect, however, when the ship's computers report that the ship's power cells are low... even through they should not be for at least 45 more days.

Nevertheless, Cross and company dock at a nearby space station fueling point. Not long thereafter, the Sith fighters'  transport ship arrives (inexplicably following the Crossroad even after several course changes) and begins a sweep past the ships currently at the station. The Crossroad makes yet another break for it, but sustains even more damage. The ships limps away from the system, but has to exit Hyperspace shortly thereafter to deal with the damage the ship has taken, and to plot a course that can get the ship to another friendly system using what little fuel they have.

We leave our heroes in their ship as it floats silently in the empty expanses between systems.
