(Scott chose to play the Witch-King of Stygia, a half-mad necromancer who rules the state of Lemuria through the power of his demonic sword History-Eater. According to The Dictionary of Mu, the Witch-King's story begins with a gathering of his court-magicians, and the Witch-King must choose one among them as a sacrifice to satisfy his hell-sword.) We open on the gritty metropolis of Mu's Bed, located in a sunken crater, built on the remnants of dozens of dead civilizations. In the center of the crater looms the gothic malevolence of the Witch-King's Tower. Here the thirteen High Warlocks have come to pay homage to their master, knowing that before the sun sets one of their number will be doomed. Four of the High Warlocks deserve special mention, as they show up later in the story:
