Wye Tye?
Tye is meant to be the voice of the common man in an otherwise somewhat technical treatise on the Duchy campaign. The purpose of these web pages is to detail the setting of the Duchy, as well as talk about the special rules this particular campaign will use, and how they differ from a 'standard' Dn D campaign. This can be pretty pretty boring reading sometimes...

Tye is there to make sure you stay awake: interjecting comments, observations, and a general 'character's-eye view' of the Duchy. Tye's comments are usually italicized, like this, and are usually accompanied by a (sadly) smaller picture of Tye than the one seen above.

Personality
Generally... Tye's friendly.  He's a man's man in a goofball sort of way, though when encountering other "man's man men" (say that ten times fast) he will avoid some sort of pissing contest.  His treatment of women is... well, Neanderthal at best, though buried in there somewhere are good intentions. They are, after all,  the delicate weaker sex and so they have to be protected and cared for, and naturally there are some things that they can't and shouldn't do.

That's his outward attitude, anyhow.

He actually admires women who do things for themselves, or take on roles traditionally belonging to men, though he'd probably never admit it.   His relations toward such a person would likely take the form of some rather infuriating teasing, possibly lewd and crude flirtation, if it looks like they can handle it, and getting a rise from someone only serves to goad him on.  He'll always end up going home with the giggling barmaid, but as he's walking out, it's the girl in the corner with the sword calluses that he's watching, thinking about.

He enjoys playing the charming rogue, a role he's perfected - well, worked on - since childhood in order to make up for his acknowledged and well-documented lack of brain power.

Background
Oldest (of 5) son of a wealthy family.  His father, a Caer Maighdean city councilman, had hopes of him becoming a politician or a wizard, but it was obvious even at an early age that he lacked the attention span and the tact necessary for either occupation.

Still, wanting to please his father, Tye tried joining the City Guard...

And failed. What're yah gonna do? So he got a job as a bouncer in a local tavern, where he finally found his true calling:  wooing and impressing serving girls.  It's so great when you can enjoy doing something you're good at, y'know?

Finally, his desire to get away from his thoroughly disappointed family (and a need for more and better stories) led him on the road to adventure: the life of fame and glory.

Right. What it really turned out to be was the road to cold, wet nights sleeping on the ground in the middle of nowhere, bleeding from multiple lacerations, without a penny to my name. But I remain optimistic (that's my other useful skill) and someday I'm sure that luck will turn my way and I'll finally be able to do something more with my life than tell people: "Okay, I think it's time for you boys to g'on home."
