NARRATIVE: In the days when people were taller, there was a little girl who never did as she was told. “Come here, Jennie Every Poultry!” people would tell her, but she wouldn’t, even though her name was Jennie Every Poultry. “Sweep the floors, Jennie Every Poultry!” people would tell her, but she wouldn’t. “Eat this candy, Jennie Every Poultry!” people would tell her, and she would. Jennie Every Poultry liked candy.

“I hate when people tell me to do things I don’t want to do!” Jennie Every Poultry whined, and pouted. “I wish there was some way I could know when they would do that, so I could be someplace else at the time! Then I would only have to hear instructions which it would please me to follow!”

No sooner had Jennie Every Poultry said those words than a little man with an apple on his head said “Well! If it isn’t Jennie Every Poultry! How are you today, Jennie Every Poultry?”

“I don’t know you!” screeched Jennie Every Poultry, who knew better than to talk to strangers.

“Oh! I forgot!” said the little man with an apple on his head. “Today must be the first day we
