The Earth is a fruit on the World Ash. It is the demesne of Lord Entropy. It is one of the 20-30 major fronts in the Valde Bellum. Nobilis is set in a world which appears much like our own. The Earth of Nobilis bears scars where the Excrucians have brought ruination, but to mortal eyes, these scars have natural explanations. The breaking of Mountains' Peace is known to humanity as a volcanic eruption; the fall of Rome is attributed to barbarians. Humanity lives for the most part with a fundamental ignorance of the Valde Bellum and its participants. They have shaped a different kind of reality for themselves, bound materially by the concrete laws of physics and bound spiritually by the rewards of faith. It is well: many humans, if they are inescapably confronted with the true reality, go mad. This is one of the dangers of miracles. The world is different. See Also |
