The Society of Flowers is a name for the loose social structures of the Nobilis. There is no monolithic social structure. Therefore most Nobles become very social creatures. Since they have to deal with one another as individuals, knowing the Nobles they interact with is a survival trait. Personal, social experience of their peers is vitally important. Through social contact, Nobles come to understand the weaknesses of their rivals and enemies. Through social contact, they strengthen the ties that bind in friendship.

Among the Nobilis, heraldic tradition has never died, and with good reason. Much of the universe is a reflection of flowers planted in Heaven. Almost every Estate has a flower that represents it — not necessarily an Earthly flower, but one of the uncountable varieties that grow in the Brightest Realm. The Society of Flowers draws heavily from the Language Of Flowers. This tends to make Nobilis rather Anthomaniac.
