The Monarda Law is basically the idea of never saying no to a player. Which really means "You should never stop somebody from trying to do something.

There is a corollary to this, dubbed Rebecca's Razor: "if it were that easy, wouldn't someone have done it already?"

There are lots of ideas that a player might come up with which would move the balance of the game in one direction or the other. As there has been thousands of years of time and this has not happen so far, there must be a really good reason it has not.

For example:

• This ability is already known about and has started wars before. It's use is outlawed or discouraged amongst the sane Powers. Use of this ability is an untalked of faux pas.
• This is a really a new ability but it's use will soon spiral out of control and Lord Entropy will construct a new law to outlaw it's use.
• There is a fundamental flaw in the ability which stops it working; the Power just has not seen it yet.
• The foe have removed this ability from reality already.
• It's use will immediately bring the Power to the attention of the foe as they regard it as something in their domain.
