Similarly to stepping into and acting through an Anchor, Legba (and, presumably, other Loa as well) may "ride" a human host for a short time. The "Horse", as the human so possessed is known, becomes open to being ridden through Voodoo Ceremony (or other similar activities of worship, dancing, singing, use of substances, etc.) or, at times, by touching very closely upon a particular Loa's estate.

The Horse doesn't gain an Anchor's resistance to magic, nor (unless they are a frequent Horse) do they "attract the attention of Fate". In addition, the bond between Rider and Horse is not nearly as complete as that between Power and Anchor:

  • There is no shared awareness or communication; the Horse has only vague memory of being Ridden, and the Loa has no access to the Horse's knowledge.
  • There is no basic bond to turn off; stepping off of a Horse does not cripple or kill the Horse.
  • There are limitations to working miracles through a Horse rather than an Anchor.
    • Aspect Miracles have the same rules as Anchors
    • Divinations suffer no penalty.
    • Domain Miracles cost an extra DMP if it targets something more than 100 miles away from the Power or an Anchor (see page 97, 107 and 163)
  • The Miracle is fully traceable to the originating Power.
