A Demon's Power is equal to its Will which is equal to its Lore+1 which is equal to its number of Abilities. Stamina is the only Score a demon has which isn’t linked into number of Abilities it has, and it's usually 'maxed out' to afford the demon the highest number of Ability uses, which means you usually see four scores like so:

  • Stamina: #
  • Will: #+1
  • Lore: #
  • Power: #+1

It might be easier to just lump Will, Lore, and Power into one score, and allow the summoning Sorcerer to set Stamina at any desired level up to Power. If they are equal, then you only need the one number.

Possible effects:

Banishments are resisted by the demon's Power + Will -- this modification would result it it being resisted by Power*2. Initially, that's the same number, but it would double the efficiency of Punish as a ritual, since it lower's the demon's Power.

Stamina is used to resist Punish rituals and for combat effects - lower-stamina demons are easier to zap into submission (or at least into the grudging appearance of submission), and with a single fat score, punish rituals would be slightly more difficult (at least for the first one -- they'd get easier as Power dropped). Also, effects which reduce a demon’s Power (such as a post-boost quiescent period) affect its basic physical capacities.

It would make demons more tidy (and less like sorcerers), and you always know what you are rolling for a demon. [1]
