Wizardry is
- A catch-all term like Theism or Animism meant to encompass the various types of worship found in monotheistic Churches.
- A term for a type of magic in which Adepts? who are sanctioned, supported, and funded by a Church, study and learn from Grimoires? that contain spells developed by mighty adepts of days past. (Not to be confused with Sorcery, which is the exact same thing, but ungovered by a Church.)
To be perfectly frank, "Wizardry" is misleading and misapplied in many ways, and referring to the gestalt of monotheistic worship as a "Church" is much more accurate, and will be how I refer to it in most cases from here on out.
A Church has various categories of membership:
- Worshiper -- the lay member of the faith.
- Liturgist -- those who lead the worship of both the larger congregation as well as smaller Orders.
- Orderly -- member of a Saintly Order (a smaller sect within the church focused more specifically on the works of a specific saint.
- Adept -- those who study and practice magical texts called Grimoires?, often original penned by founders of the church.
