TSOY IC LOG - edited to keep ideas/conversations together
Our first session: introducing the characters.

Session Start: Mon Dec 27 18:16:25 2004
Session Ident: #tsoy
[17:37] * Now talking in #tsoy
[18:06] * Storyguide is now known as James
[18:06] * Clinton is now known as Aloux
[18:07] * Da Great JL has joined #tsoy
[18:07] * Lucretta has joined #tsoy
[18:07] <Da Great JL> Hey, everybody.
[18:08] <James> Hi
[18:08] <Da Great JL> Is there anyone else we're waiting on?
[18:08] <anonymouse> Doyce
[18:08] <James> 3 people! hurrah! (DGJL, we're using #tsoy_ooc as well.)
[18:13] <James> ..........
[18:13] <James> It is the day of the summer solstice. Aloux, a henchman of the vile sorcerer Chenard, has ridden ahead to herald his master's arrival at the Lake Temple.
[18:14] <James> Having arrived the night before, he was unable to keep away from the beautiful girl Kamala, who has haunted his thoughts for many months.
[18:14] <James> But as morning breaks, the girl's tutor, Duval, knocks and opens the door... to find Aloux and the girl, naked and drowsy.
[18:14] * Aloux yawns and stretches.
[18:15] <James> In the background, the elf house-mistress, Lucretta, can be heard following behind Duval, reminding him of preparations for Chenard's arrival.
[18:15] <Aloux> Are you daft, old-timer? Knock before you enter!
[18:16] * Lucretta walks ominously down the stone passageway.
[18:16] <Da Great JL> * stops in his tracks, his eyes wide.
[18:16] <James> Already, the hum of mosquitoes can be heard as they flit along the slimy swamp outside. This will be a sultry, miserable day.
[18:17] * Da Great JL is now known as Duval
[18:17] * Aloux slips out of bed into a pair of golashes and moves unclothed to shut the door in Duval's face.
[18:17] * Kamala yawns and mumbles something in Zaru.
[18:18] * Duval moves to put his foot in the door, in order to hear what Kamala said
[18:18] * Kamala sees Duval in the door and shouts in anxiety, not sure whether to shove Aloux out of bed or to hide under the covers
[18:18] <Lucretta> Ahem. Duval, what seems to be happening here?
[18:19] <Aloux> It seems that there's a convention of meddlers meeting in this exact location this morning. I was not aware the room was booked.
[18:19] * Duval turns to Lucretta, standing in way of door.
[18:19] <Kamala> (in Zaru) Oh no! This is a disaster.
[18:19] * Aloux arches an angry eyebrows.
[18:20] <Lucretta> Actually, it would seem that you are the meddler here.
[18:20] <Lucretta> And it would seem you've managed quite a mischeif.
[18:20] <Duval> I was simply coming to ensure that the lady was woken up and prepared for the master's arival.
[18:20] * Kamala wraps her sheet about herself and retreats behind a screen, trying to get dressed.
[18:20] <James> Duval and Lucretta both know the importance Chenard has attached to Kamala's virginity.
[18:21] * Aloux knows as well, and has taken every step to ensure it is still intact.
[18:21] * Duval looks at the mat under the sheet, looking for blood stains.
[18:22] <Lucretta> Out! Out, out, out!
[18:22] <Lucretta> Everyone but the girl, out of this room this instant!
[18:22] * Aloux grabs only his viper-blade as he exits.
[18:22] * Duval moves out of the way of both Aloux and Lucretta.
[18:23] * Lucretta closes and locks the door, turning imperatously on Kamala.
[18:24] * Kamala looks at Lucretta, her eyes downcast. She has gotten into a white shift
[18:25] <Lucretta> Kamala, what have you done?
[18:26] <Chenard> (Aloux, what has Kamala done?)
[18:27] <Aloux> (Up to you. I think that's a "pull the curtain" sort of thing, but her physical virginity's intact.)
[18:27] <Lucretta> Well, girl, speak up!
[18:27] * Kamala (in halting Ammeni) confesses much of what happened with Aloux. She claims that he gave her something to drink that affected her senses.
[18:28] <Kamala> It was not my fault. That man seduced me.
[18:28] <Lucretta> I'm sure that will be a great reassurance to your Lord Chenard when he arrives.
[18:29] <Kamala> What will we tell him?
[18:30] <Lucretta> To begin with, you'll need to be examined. No one else can be trusted in this. Raise your shift, girl!
[18:31] * Kamala obeys Lucretta.
[18:31] * Lucretta examines her closely.
[18:32] <SG> Physically, Kamala looks perfect, as she always does.
[18:33] <SG> There's something hazy in her eyes, though; it's not inconceiable that rascal Aloux got her drunk, or gave her something else even more nefarious to lower her scruples.
[18:33] <SG> Kamala is still a maid.
[18:34] <SG> Though she is deeply ashamed at the inspection process.
[18:34] <Lucretta> Well, then, that's for the best.
[18:34] <Lucretta> Clothe yourself. Your Lord approaches, and will expect to find you waiting for him.
[18:35] <Lucretta> I'll return shortly. In the meantime, receive no one but myself into your room.
[18:35] * Lucretta leaves, locking the door behind her.
----

[18:22] <James> Pendejo, the donkey you've been riding on the hour or so past dawn has been terribly uncomfortable. You love it. But also your master, Chenard, rides at your side. He is so commanding, so fierce, even when rubbing the sleepiness out of his eyes.
[18:23] <James> Soon, both of you will arrive at the Lake Temple. \\ [18:24] <Chenard> Pendejo, my sniveling beast: you would do anything for me, wouldn't you? I wish to conduct... an experiment.
[18:24] * Pendejo sighs in turmoil looking at Chenard.
[18:24] * Pendejo 's ears prick up. "An experiment, Master?"
[18:27] <Chenard> Yes, Pendejo. An experiment. I have studied your physiology in great detail. Vivisected you. Studied you from the inside out. But lately my explorations have convinced me that your kind is not so far removed from the sons of Men.
[18:28] * Pendejo ponders this just a split second--he has thought on this too. "Master! But, I am . . . goblins are offal compared to your majestic forms."
[18:28] <Chenard> Indeed they are. But consider the world around us. That crawling, sniveling worm on that leaf spins a chrysalis, and transforms itself into a majestic butterfly.
[18:29] <Chenard> Pendejo, my research has convinced me that even a disgusting, dung-smeared cretin like you may someday become human.
[18:30] * Pendejo fairly quivers at the idea.
[18:30] <Pendejo> Would you, master . . . ?
[18:31] <Chenard> They tell me this is done through a ritual involving marriage and carnal knowledge. This ritual shall be completed soon. Prepare yourself Pendejo: I intend to marry you to Kamala this very night
[18:31] * Pendejo swallows nervously. "Kamala, Master! I--I would, ah, 'know' her?"
[18:35] <Chenard> The lore concerning your lowly kind is hard to come by, my sniveling worm, but I am certain you will obey me in all things. If you fail to become human, than we shall find new ways to explore your existence.
[18:36] <Pendejo> Yes, my vaunted Master, my obedience is yours to command.
[18:37] <Chenard> -- Sounds like the end of a scene --
----

[18:25] * Duval glares at Aloux as he walks by.
[18:25] <Aloux> Did you find something ill in your breakfast, Duval?
[18:25] <James> As Duval and Aloux exit the room, one of the temple guards chortles. "Did you, or didn't you?"
[18:25] * Duval silently turns, and walks off in the direction of his lab.
[18:29] * Aloux paces in his lab. He opens and reads a letter written on rice paper, then folds it into a funnel, pouring the black seeds found in the paper into a flask.
[18:33] * Duval enters his lab, and taps his foot nervously. He considers a scroll, but then puts it aside. If her virtue has been stolen, let it be found.
[18:34] * Duval considers, then begins picking leaves gently from a small, wilted plant in a pot by the corner.
----

[18:39] <SG> It is later in the afternoon. Chenard and Pendejo have not travelled all this distance alone. Along with them are some of Chenard's allies from the Ammenite court: Lord Teilhard, Baron Monbriot, and the Viscount Vauban, along with their mistresses and various retainers. \\ [18:40] <SG> Clearly Chenard wishes to present to his friends a scene of vile whimsy.
[18:40] <SG> The house slaves are getting the rooms of the Lake Temple ready to accommodate these guests, who are milling about in one of the larger chambers.
[18:40] * Aloux hears the horses approach and finishes coating his viper-blade with the black poiture resin.
[18:41] <SG> The last of the guests arrives, paddled across the filthy lake in a little boat. A silver bell on its prow keeps the rumored lake-beasts at bay (the Zaru slaves are superstitious.)
[18:42] * Chenard takes Duval aside
[18:42] * Aloux reads the rice paper letter one, shaking his head as if a huge decision is to be made.
[18:42] * Lucretta finishes instructing the eunuchs she's assigned to guard Kamala and turns to final preparations for Chenards visit.
[18:43] * Duval quietly follows Chenard.
[18:43] <Chenard> Duval, you have been a loyal tutor to this girl for many years. How many is it? 6? 8? No, no, I misremember: a full decade. Ah, where does the time go? I hope you've enjoyed your time here in this old temple, nonetheless. But I fear that after tonight Kamala's education will be complete.
[18:43] <Duval> What is your plan for her, sir?
[18:44] <Chenard> She is of little use to me. In fact, she always has been of little use. I was unwise to acquire her. But it occurs to me that she could be used in an experiment in comparative biology.
[18:45] <Chenard> Ah, just a moment -- I shall make my announcement; you may as well know as soon as my friends here:
[18:45] * Duval raises his eyebrows, suprised at this statement.
[18:45] <Chenard> Gentlemen--ladies--and those who aspire to those names, yet may not deserve them-- I have gathered you here to partake in a jest.
[18:46] <Chenard> Ten years ago, a Zaru chieftain foolishly resisted my insatiable hunger for knowledge. In retaliation, I burned down his village and took his six year old daughter. That daughter stands before you know on the cusp of womanhood.
[18:46] * Aloux arrives just in time to hear his lord's speech.
[18:47] <Chenard> Tonight--on the Summer Solstice--the very night when this same temple was consecrated to the delights of love and flesh long ago in the days before the cataclysm--I shall marry this Kamala off... to my loyal retainer Pendejo.
[18:47] <Chenard> Come forth, Pendejo-- let my friends see you in your groom's outfit
[18:48] * Aloux nearly falls into the moat.
[18:48] * Lucretta stifles a cough.
[18:48] * Pendejo steps forward, a shark-like grin splitting his reptilian face
[18:49] <Some_Lady_from_Court> Look at him! With his little shoes and spats!
[18:48] * Aloux slides up next to Lucretta.
[18:48] * Duval bites his lip in consternation.
[18:49] * Lucretta gently restrains Kamala, predicting her panic.
[18:50] * Aloux whispers to Lucretta. "Hey - I've never cared for the special bitchery your elfishness has brought to this place, but we should really stop this nonsense."
[18:50] <SG> Kamala has had trouble following Chenard's conversation. Despite Duval's tutoring, she isn't fluent in Ammeni
[18:50] <SG> Kamala asks Lucretta in Zaru, "What did my master say?"
[18:50] * Lucretta whispers back "Meet me afterwards at your lab."
[18:51] <Lucretta> Kamala, you are to receive special attentions in the coming days.
[18:51] * Pendejo fingers his finery, looks longingly at Chenard, and his gaze seeps back to Kamala, considering.
[18:51] <Chenard> Contain yourselves, ladies and gentlemen. I have not gone mad, and this is much more than a lark solely for your amusement. You are here to witness what may be a rarely seen act of magic... or the girl's gruesome death. Either way, I trust my evening's entertainments shall prove diverting.
[18:52] * Lucretta pets Kamala's hair. "You'll need to be brave, girl."
[18:53] <SG> The crowd seems to titter and buzz at Chenard's audacity. "Is he serious?" "He's so outre!" "I wonder what will happen next?"
[18:52] <Aloux> Sir, perhaps the... beast needs a concoction to, um, administer his affections.
[18:54] <SG> Chenard (to Aloux) "Quite right, Aloux. I leave the matter in your hands. The girl will not be willing at first, so I entrust you to prepare a potion to render her eager and willing for Pendejo's blubbery caresses."
[18:54] <Aloux> Ah, yes. I think I know of a certain mixture that will render her willing. In fact, I have some I made just yesterday.
[18:53] * Lucretta approaches Chenard as the audience breaks down.
[18:53] * Duval fidgets by the side, waiting for a chance to question Chenard personally.
[18:54] <Lucretta> Lord, when do you plan your, ah, entertainments?
[18:54] <SG> "The ceremony shall commence at moonrise, Lucretta." (Say -- 6 hours from now?)
[18:54] <Lucretta> I'll need to be able to prepare the Temple properly.
[18:56] * Lucretta leads Kamala back to her chamber, and goes from there to Aloux's lab.
[18:57] <Pendejo> Master, should I . . . prepare myself?
[18:58] <SG> "Pendejo! My little groom. There are many things you must keep in mind to be a good husband. Perhaps you should spend some time with your bride to be, and get to know her? Or Lucretta may have advice for you, from her many lives in the past."
[18:59] * Pendejo looks surprisingly shy for such a rude creature. "Ah--yes, master. I will speak with Lucretta, then."
[18:55] <SG> "Duval? You wished to speak to me?
[18:55] <SG> (stepping aside momentarily)
[18:55] * Aloux skitters off to his lab, hoping no one caught his slip.
[18:55] <Duval> Sir, what exactly do you intend to learn from this?
[18:56] <SG> "A recent excursion into Khale led me to several of their bards. After extensive interviews and... other persuasion.. they revealed legends of Pendejo's kind undergoing an alchemical transformation of the spirit, when moved by love."
[18:57] <SG> "This opens itself to a number of interpretations. I intend to test one now. It may fail, of course, but there are other girls like this one, and I intend to fete my friends tonight."
[18:58] <Duval> Are you sure Kamala would be the best test subject?\\ [18:59] * Duval says under his breath, so as not to be heard by the girl, "Don't you think her race and innocence might serve as an improper variable?
[18:59] <SG> "Her tribe was notorious for the beauty of its women; it was said that they could ignite the heart of any man. Granted, Pendejo is not human--which is why he needs some extra incentive."
[19:00] <SG> "Do not worry, Duval -- I may no longer need your services after tonight; Kamala will either become a grown woman, or perish--but I will be happy to refer you to the lords and ladies here, should *they* need a tutor. But perhaps you should bathe first, before I introduce you?"
[19:02] * Duval considers. "Yes, sir, I would like to prepare myself before being presented. Thank you for offering me such a privelage."
----

[19:00] * Pendejo sidles unctuously up to Lucretta, with due caution--he remembers a surprisingly powerful kick or three.
[19:00] <Lucretta> Pendejo, what are you doing?
[19:00] <Pendejo> Exalted Mistress, I am confused.
[19:01] * Lucretta looks stern and busy as she leads Kamala back to her room.
[19:01] <Lucretta> Yes?
[19:01] * Pendejo speaks low, intending that only Lucretta should hear.
[19:02] <Pendejo> What do I--that is, I don't--what am I supposed to *do*, exactly?
[19:02] * Lucretta glances at Kamala on her other side.
[19:02] <SG> Kamala, as always, looks revolted at the sight of Pendejo. Her skin positively crawls.
[19:03] * Lucretta grimaces.
[19:03] <SG> Of course--the Zaru aren't that familiar with goblins. Maybe she'll grow to like him?
[19:03] <Lucretta> You'll do as your master commands, obviously. Where is the confusion, revolting thing.
[19:03] <Pendejo> This 'love' business.
[19:04] <Lucretta> Yes?
[19:04] <Lucretta> Spit it out, vileness.
[19:04] <Pendejo> Well, you humans don't use the word so I understand it. Some seem to think it just rutting, and of course I know how to do that.
[19:04] * Pendejo grins at the memory of his last coupling with another goblin, a stolen moment in an errand in town; it's been so long
[19:05] * Lucretta looks at Kamala to see how much she's following.
[19:07] <Lucretta> Love is a fiction, and one you'd do best to put out of mind. There'll be none to love one such as you.
[19:07] <Pendejo> So, then I'll just be fucking her?
[19:08] <SG> Kamala grimaces at the expression on Pendejo's face
[19:08] * Lucretta kicks Pendejo.
[19:09] <Pendejo> ee ee ee
[19:09] <Lucretta> This is Kamala's room. Be still a moment.
----

[19:01] * Aloux takes a tube full of liquid from the shelf, the same he used in mist form on Kamala's roses last night.
[19:01] <SG> Aloux's lab is on one of the lower levels--water from the swamp seeps in about half an inch over the slimy stones. The lab bubbles and gurgles with strange sounds, and the crushed herbs give it an odd scent.
[19:03] * Aloux looks much less smug than normal. "If only I had been less of a coward last night. I should have trusted in myself instead of my herbs. Now she will never trust me to rescue her from this."
[19:05] <SG> Aloux - there's a knock on the door of your lab. A very forceful knock.
[19:05] * Aloux opens the door.
[19:05] <SG> It is two of the loutish guardsmen of the lake temple
[19:06] <Aloux> Well, hello. Do you fellows need some more of that... stiffening powder?
[19:06] <SG> "You--herbalist! Word reached Captain Latour of your dalliance with the girl last night. You're coming with us for interrogation.
[19:07] <Aloux> I think not, gentlemen.
[19:07] <SG> The guardsmen have knives at their belt, but clearly aren't expecting any trouble from Aloux.
[19:09] <SG> Aloux, the guards may be telling the truth, but maybe not. Since you're an outsider here, they've never really respected you, and you and Captain Latour have never gotten along.
[19:09] <Aloux> Ok. Hold one moment, men.
[19:10] * Aloux coughs a bit, then slips the last of the black poiture powder into his mouth. It won't do much, but blowing it into someone's eyes is bound to hurt some.
[19:11] * Aloux follows the guards.
----

[19:06] * Duval turns, and heads to his apartment, and lab.
[19:07] <SG> Duval, you can hear two guards talking to Aloux down the hall as you make your way past an intersection.
[19:07] * Duval begins pulling jars from the shelves, and crushing dried bulbs with a pestle.
[19:09] * Duval pauses, and leans closer to listen to what the guards are saying.
[19:09] <SG> Duval, they're saying something about taking Aloux away for whatever happened last night. Aloux is mumbling something back at them.
[19:11] * Duval turns, and continues to his lab.
[some lab work ensues in OOC thread]
[19:18] * Duval wraps his concoction in a piece of hide, and puts the package in his robe pocket. He then makes his way to the kitchen.
[19:20] <SG> Duval -- you're in the kitchen. Gascard, the chef, is shouting orders to dozens of slowpoke Zaru servants, preparing for the fanciest dinner in his career
----

[19:09] * Lucretta opens the door, checks inside, and gestures for Kamala to enter.
[19:10] * Lucretta locks her in, inspects the eunuchs, and then gestures for Pendejo to follow her.
[19:11] * Pendejo follows in his most polished, craven fashion.
[19:11] <Pendejo> What have I done to displease you, o most fearsome and beautiful lady?
[19:12] <Lucretta> Surely your life is not so short that the disgust you inspire is your betters has not left you unfazed?
[19:12] * Pendejo takes his time sorting through the double negatives
[19:12] <Lucretta> The idea of coupling with you is naturely terrible to Kamala.
[19:13] <Lucretta> She'll be difficult enough to manage this evening without the leering of a blob of lust like you.
[19:15] * Pendejo ponders what confidences are safe to share with Lucretta.
[19:15] <Lucretta> Now, as I understand it, Chenard intends to conduct a mockery of wedlock between you and the maid, culminated with a perversion of union.
[19:16] * Lucretta considers Pendejo carefully.
[19:16] <Pendejo> I am a creature of lust, it is true. But Kamala . . . hm. When I think of her . . .
[19:16] <Lucretta> What are you thinking of?
[19:17] <Pendejo> I must not disappoint my Master!
[19:17] <Lucretta> To be sure. What is it that you think of Kamala?
[19:19] * Pendejo says, in his best conspirational stage-whisper--I am not sure how to--you know--with a, a human girl. And it seems . . . *sigh* I don't know. It doesn't make sense.
[19:20] * Pendejo cowers, covering his head, though it bears spikes that would not easily take a kick. "Please, do not tell Master! I must find a way."
[19:20] <Lucretta> What are you suggesting, creature? Out with it.
[19:20] <Pendejo> I don't know if it--
[19:20] * Pendejo looks down meaningfully
[19:20] <Pendejo> --if it would work. With her.
[19:21] * Lucretta pauses a moment.
[19:21] * Lucretta breaks into laughter.
[19:21] <Lucretta> You're afraid you won't be able to come through in the end, eh?
[19:21] <Pendejo> Or in front!
[19:21] <Lucretta> It seems to me you've the least of our problems.
[19:22] <Lucretta> I'll tell you what though, Pendejo. Trust me in this, and do precisely as I tell you, and you'll be able to perform as your master commands.
[19:22] * Pendejo croons, "yes, Lucretta, you are wise, Master trusts you."
[19:23] <Pendejo> But please, don't tell him!
[19:23] <Lucretta> In the meantime, go back to Chenard, and tell him that our little chat has set your mind at ease.
[19:24] <Pendejo> Yes, mistress.
[19:24] * Pendejo bows repeatedly, backing away. "Thank you, thank you!"
[19:24] * Lucretta sneers at the goblin.
[19:26] <Lucretta> Be quick, Pendejo. I've my own things to do.
[19:26] * Pendejo scampers off.
[19:26] * Lucretta turns on her heel and heads for Aloux's lab.
----

[19:16] <SG> Aloux, the guards tromp you up several flights of stairs and across a few ramshackle bridges to the office of Captain Latour, who runs the guards here. He's a fat, red-nosed Ammeni with questionable powers of discipline. He's never liked you.
[19:17] * Aloux tries not to swallow.
[19:17] <SG> Latour: "Nice to see you again, Aloux. Let's have ourselves a talk, huh?"
[19:17] <Aloux> Mmm.
[19:17] <SG> Latour: "I remember when you first came here, and you strutted around like you owned the place, simply because Chenard had big plans for you.
[19:18] * Aloux nods, waiting on Latour.
[19:19] <SG> "You never showed me the proper respect. Never saluted. This is my place, Aloux. What happens here, happens under my eyes. So, when I heard about your escapade with Little Miss... well... that's just an opportunity for payback. Hold his arms, boys!"
[19:20] * Aloux waits for Latour to get close.
[19:20] <SG> Latour pulls back a beefy fist and aims right at Aloux's solar plexus.
[19:23] <SG> Latour is too drunk to swing properly. His bulk crashes into the guardsman holding Aloux's left arm.
[19:25] * Aloux blows the powder off his tongue into Latour's eyes. "Taste that, drunkard!"
[19:26] <SG> Latour groans and his face convulses. His arms twitch and he falls to one knee
[19:26] <SG> The guards momentarily rush to help him, forgetting about Aloux for a split second
[19:27] * Aloux runs out of the room. "Where to hide?" he thinks. The only room nearby is Duval's lab.
----

[19:22] * Duval approaches Gascard.
[19:23] <Duval> I do not wish to disrupt your business, but Master Chenard requested that I check on your progress with dinner.
[19:23] <SG> Gascard: "What is it, Duval? I'm busy. No time for your poetry readings and jottings now!"
[19:24] <Duval> I simply need to taste the soup, and make sure it is acceptable.
[19:24] <SG> Gascard: (rolls his eyes) "There is only one true chef here! But very well, do as you must!"
[19:30] <SG> Duval -- it sure tastes like good soup. Lots of noodles, fisheyes, and squirmy things--just the way mom used to make.
----

[19:28] * Lucretta arrives at Aloux's, finding it empty, begins looking around, idly.
[19:29] <SG> Lucretta, Aloux's door is unlocked. You can see various tinctures and concoctions throughout Aloux's lab.
[19:31] * Lucretta resigns herself not to reach in to darkened drawers in other people's rooms.
[19:50] <SG> Lucretta, Kamala is sobbing in her room. One of her ladies-in-waiting must have told her.
----

[19:31] <SG> Mmmm-mmm! Duval just can't stop sippin' that soup!
[19:31] <SG> Gascard: "Don't you have something better to be doing with your time?"
[19:32] <Duval> This soup is quite excellent, I must say. Which wine were you planning on serving with it?
[19:32] <SG> "The Freneu, from the south vineyards. Master Chenard brought it especially for this occasion."
[19:33] <Duval> Where are you chilling it currently? I should like to check the bottles personally, and insure they are intact.
[19:34] <SG> Gascard: "Duval--I heard you won't be working here after tomorrow. Is this your way of applying for a job in my kitchen?"
[some Pain is Brought Down, as Duval argues with Gascard in OOC dicey stuff--from here until about 19:50, Duval's player is engaged in a Bringing Down the Pain Contest to poison the food; the OOC log handles most of that.]
[19:34] <SG> "What are you even doing here? I'm a busy man!"
[19:37] <Pendejo> Pendejo sneaks in thinking to steal a snack
[19:38] <SG> Pendejo witnesses a shouting match between Gascard and a very harried looking Duval. Poor man! Master said he will no longer be needed after today. To be no longer needed by the master! No wonder he's upset!
[more dicey stuff as Gascard and Duval go at it]
[19:40] * Pendejo uses the distraction to filch himself a bit of bread or whatever comes to hand.
[19:43] <SG> Everyone in the kitchen stops as Duval and Gascard get involved in a screaming argument
[19:45] <SG> Gascard: "Look, I just don't have time for you now. Come back, won't you?"
[19:47] <SG> "I have a busy staff to oversee!"
[19:55] <SG> Gascard: "You don't know anything about cooking, anyway! I'm wasting my time talking to you!"
[19:56] <Duval> Look, you are a fool for turning down my help. I'm highly skilled in numerous arts, the least of which is cooking that would blow your mind!
[19:56] <SG> Gascard: (tosses up his hands)
[19:56] <SG> "All right, all right: I don't have all day to argue with you! Look at the wine! Sip the soup! Just get out from underfoot!"
[19:57] <SG> "And you -- Banjo, Bongo, whatever your name is--Goblin, get out of my kitchen, you'll attract bugs!"
[19:57] * Pendejo scampers off, giggling, but peeks around the corner to observe Duval, as he'd like to chat.
[19:57] * Duval smiles a wan grin, as he goes to check the wine.
