From: De To: me, Jackie, Lee

Hi all,

Here are the notes for the first session. Nothing artistic--just something so Lee won't forget who's who.

D.

Setting: Phillipe has sent Gerard's squad to the edge of Charles's domain for a raid. Squall's ratkin have captured the squad and brought them to a ruined city for the leader of the ratkin tribe, Night-Paw, to deal with. Night-Paw has them penned up in the ruined city.

It is just before the full moon, or Ratmoon, when the Ratkin hold their councils.

Events (in brief)

Zoe-- A woman dressed as a nun tells Zoe that her brother is missing -- something that was rumored at the Court, but not known. The woman wants to know if Zoe will hold to the the same bargains that her brother made, that is, to betray Phillipe to Charles in return for lands, titles, and, in Zoe's case, freedom from an unpleasantly arranged marriage. Turns out that Gerard was using the patrol he was sent on as a way to meet with Charles' men, but never showed. He has the information that the other Lord wants, and if Zoe gets it, Zoe benefits (Gerard? well, that's his problem, isn't it?). Zoe says, "I'll see."

Kikut-- Kikut is in the holding pen in the Iohnsgaard ratkin camp along with the rest of Gerard's unit. A tall, cloaked figure walks through the camp, stopping near the pen where the prisoners are being held and seeming to smell the air. Kikut is frightened by the man, who smells something of goblins, and seems to be surrounded by whispers that keep that rest of the camp from noticing him. The man disappears into the tent of Squall, the rival for the ratkin leadership here.

Graythorn-- Ratkin take Graythorn to Night-Paw's tent, where the ratkin leader offers him brandy and a talks in general terms about the diffuculty of leadership when one is not actually the leader (a chance to complain about his commander, Gerard). Night-Paw picks up some kind of information--perhaps that Gerard is not only a lieutenant, but a noble -- from Graythorn's conversation. Night-Paw sends Graythorn back to his men -- Graythorn is undamaged and untortured, but has the sinking suspicion he let something vital slip.
