For me, the use of Tactics on my companions in the CRPG was both fun and (often) critical to success. I love the idea and frankly I wanted some way to see that that kind of functionality in the TTRPG.

Also, one of my players has been bemoaning the lack of "zone control" in Dragon Age. What he means is stuff like Attacks of Opportunity that let him somewhat "protect the mage". We've discussed the Ready action, and it works out all right, but there are so many things that a single readied action can't cover -- so many ways in which that player could be "useless" if they ready an action and guess wrong.

TACTICS TALENT
This talent gives the character more options when using the Ready action in combat.

Classes: Any.
Requirement: You must have a Perception of 2 or higher.

Novice: When using a Ready action, the player may declare two possible "if/then" actions they will take, rather than one. ONLY ONE ACTION WILL BE MADE, but the character is broadening the list of possible things that might cause them to act or react.

Example:
"1. If anyone attempts to move past me, attack them."
"2. If anyone attacks the mage, charge them."
If an enemy attempted to move past that player, they would attack that enemy. However, if an enemy later attacked the mage, the second response listed would no longer be available, as the character already took their readied action.

Journeyman: When using a Ready action, if the character has also taken no minor action that round, the character may ready a minor action that acts in conjunction with the readied major action. The player may still ready two different "if/then" statements.

Example:
"1. If the genlock emissary casts a spell, shoot him (major) and reload (minor)."
"2. If anyone attacks the mage, move back toward her (minor), then charge them (major)."

Expert, Master levels? We haven't seen higher tiers of any of the Talents thus far, but I think that four tiers in each is a fairly safe bet, given the DA:O Structure of skills and such. In that case, Tactics would probably "expand" by allowing for three and possibly four different readied actions, or possibly something like splitting up the minor and major 'reactions' into two separate lists.
