  • Name: Children Crusade
  • Kind of Organization: loose informal network
  • Agenda: To ensure survival of its members and their eventual acceptance by humanity.
  • Reports To: none
  • Allies: The Ladder (?)
  • Enemies: The Chain (?)

Project Neo Gen was an ambitious attempt of one Caliban's territories to achieve long-term strategic advantage over the neighbors. It consisted of creating genetically enhanced human beings, who would be more agile, strong and smart than the rest of humanity.

Stage I of the project – designing such a human – was successful. Stage II involved the growth of test subjects and their training. It was a success too, but during it the existence of the project became known to Con Sec. The outcry in Concordance Assembly was great.

As a result, ten cycles ago Neo Gen was closed, the genetic labs were demolished, and documentation and scientists were transferred to The Ladder. “Samples” – about a million of genetically enhanced children – were evenly distributed between Concordance members. Most territories, viewing these kids as a security risk, exiled most of them to colonies. Some of the children escaped, some were enslaved.

However, the kids themselves were ready for such development. Their warrior training allowed them to get organized into sort of underground movement. The goals of it are to stop the abuse of Neo Gen humans, and to integrate them into human society.

Right now, Children Crusade is spread on almost every planet inhabited by humans (and maybe even on the Clans’ territories). Its members are between ages of 10 and 30 cycles, highly trained, very capable and highly motivated. Yet, they are vastly outnumbered, distrusted and, due to their age, haven’t much legal rights.
