- Esteldin - Few know the true nature of the Rangers of the North; fewer still know of Esteldín, the hidden gathering place of the Rangers, tucked away in the wild, far from the travels of even the most distant wanderers. To the casual observer, one might see this as simply a place of ancient ruins, constructed long-ago by a forgotten culture in a shallow yet strategic canyon - crumbling towers and unmanned battlements.
In truth, these are remains of a town within ancient Arnor, built along the border of the kingdoms of Arthedain and Rhudaur when the threat of war was constant between these two regions. From this secluded location, the Rangers coordinate their efforts and amass the findings of their research and travels in order to enact their plans against the the evil in the North. Of particular note is the Library of Arnor, a central depository of all preserved lore of the Dúnedain of the North.
Esteldin is not canon lore, but was drawn from inferences found within the text of The Lord of the Rings, clues that indicate a place of the Dúnedain of the North, where Aragorn's mother went to spend her final days among her own people.
It is currently home and base of operations to Halbarad and the Grey Company.
Notable Rangers
- Saeradan - Lives in a cottage north of Bree, where he can watch the Great North-South Road (Greenway) and keep a weather eye on the movements of the enemy.
