"Engage the Atomics!" -- Rebecca Martin, Justice-Regal (former), Captain Lady of Her Majesty's Imperial Aethership Bonaventure
Created as the strong right arm of the Concordat Magna, the Chancels Legion was a popular, heroic slap in the face to Lord Entropy's then-nascent Code Fidelitatis. Comprised of Aether-Naval and Marine forces, the Chancels Legion counted amongst it's ranks the best and brightest that Earth's chancels had to offer in Noble, Fae, and Mortal forces alike. The ships of the Legion were shooting stars moving amongst the firmament, carrying the strength of Humanity and Her Majesty's Navy into the stars. Linked by telempathic Zograscope and reporting directly to Imperatorial Command (an authority established independent of the Council of Four and close advisors to the Empress), the Chancels Legion rode the interstellar Aetheric Streams?, utilizing humankind's advance into the stars to extend the front line's of Earth's defense against the Excrucians to colony worlds on Rigel, Antares, Ultima Thule and the Corelands Desert? in an effort to over-extend the Dark Horsemen. Even considering certain unexpected setbacks (such as Pumpkin Dragons?, the Malacoids? and other native flora and fauna of the Aether, the strategy worked. At the time of the Rollback there was even talk of expansion into the Magellanic Clouds. Despite these successes, few Imperators or Nobles were willing to stand against Entropy's decree to disband the Chancels Legion after the death of Victoria Regina; with the disbanding of the Concordat Magna, none on Earth were individually strong enough to directly oppose Entropy, and at his command the world changed. In the new future, there would be no ever-resplendent, irrepressible Fae Guard, there would be no open alliance of chosen mortals and Nobles against the Excrucian threat, and the clement aether through which the Chancels Legion sailed was pulled away into a frozen vacuum and black void that perfectly illustrated the dashed hopes and dreams of that glorious era.
