"Oh look what you made me do... I got tea all over my brand new suit. Darn cotton. Luckily I Scotch Guard everything I buy these days. The fact is, I hate to clean clothes, and you would too, if you ever wore Fili Fiber.

"Fili Fiber was a cloth. Really, I should say THE cloth, although it wasn't technically a cloth at all. It was another practical application of the Aetheric Domain; the weaving of condensed aether together to fashion flexible textiles. The beautiful thing was that Fili Fiber was not in fact physical: the tightly wound aether fibers could reflect light and deflect matter like solid matter, but the fibers were massless. And by making tiny shifts in the weaves, wonderous physical effects could be generated. Manning Corporation? invented the stuff, and they must have made a mint. They essentially displaced most existing textile industries, selling to the military, to industry, and to the public. They were rather aweful with their marketing; each commercial Fili Fiber suit carried a Memetic Encoding? with corporate branding (at least until they got in trouble during the Sublimination Trials? as a result). But they had a darn fine product.

"You only bought one Fili Fiber suit, and you paid Manning Corporation? a bundle, to be sure. But, you never had to buy clothes again. And, just like the obnoxious ads promised, you could use your Fili Fiber remote-control to 'style your suit to suit your style': basically, the Fili Fiber would change its colors and cuts to match whatever kind of look you wanted.

"Plus, there were a few other virtues: it never needed to be cleaned, since it really didn't have a surface. But it interacted with mass in masslike ways; so it would protect you from the cold, the heat, sometimes bullets, and definitely... DEFINITELY... tea."
