"About me? I do typical Wanderer's work. I ferry people, usually to or from the Liberty settlement in Far Jaalban. You have to say it that way at first — 'the Liberty settlement in Far Jaalban' — so you only anger a few potential customers right off the bat. You can watch which half they wince at and shorten it later. And the ones that do get engry, you don't want them as customers. I usually take 'em through Irien, so no one comes who doesn't seem to have the stomach for a friendly campfire chat with Ogres.

"I take 'em through Irien for two reasons. One, it's almost always easier, and two, I like the place. I even bought this groundhog totem. It's the only well-crafted thing that I carry. Well, except for my sword, but that's from when I used to accept payment in trade.

"I like laser magic even though I can't really do any of it, which I guess is why I ended up working these routes escorting crystal merchants. The minutiae fascinate me. The remind me of ...something. I think that's also why I like Round Round?. I didn't know this when I first got into it, but it turns out the Round Round? shamans, they carve these calendars to mark details of cycles and convergences. I don't have a head for that sort of thing anymore myself, but it feels like... Well, maybe it's because those of us who are void-touched find comfort in rules and order. A client used to say void ate our own roads, so now we find other peoples'.

"You look anxious to get down to business. I do Roria, Jaalban, and Memshasa. You don't look like you're aware anything exists beyond Far Jaablan. From what I hear, you're better off that way. A Roria crossing is standard House Vasting monastery rates plus half, because there's no laser bridges. Jaalban is double 'cause we'll also take a pit stop in Irien. From Memshasa, you've also got to cover all food and camping, because it'll be more than just a pit stop. And if you think that's a day wasted, shaking hands with the Manika Void is free — just leave me out of it."
