Background: Zahring has been trying to learn more about Voids for a long time. She believes she has fragments of "memories" from places that have fallen to the Void, although others believe she merely has dreams or fantasies. Not long ago, she failed to stop a Nihilomancer from kidnapping her cousin Jalene. Then she met, and nearly killed, the wizard Felrick Pelbalanc, who had come to Outer Naiway to gather crystals. After convincing her that his magic was nothing like a Nihilomancers, she agreed to protect him from the local flora and fauna while he found the crystals he needed. Then he helped her travel to Akralis and promised to introduce her to people who could help her learn about Voids and/or Nihilomancers.
