Harllon is the southernmost of the Five Nations. It's northern border is shared with Eckeron. It's southern border is the mighty Grindalspar River which separates it from the haunted Grindalspar Forest. The Grindalspar is the largest drainage for the Hilspar Mountains to the Cyllian Sea. To the east, the Dinwiddle River marks the border of taxation in northern Harllon, and the Rogue River is the border of taxation in southern Harllon. Harllon is comprised of three duchies. These are recent divisions, put in place for administration purposes. The Harllon Duchy is to the southwest and has been ruled by the heir to the King of Harllon in recent years. To the north is the Hechal Duchy, and to the south the Ellson Duchy. Each duchy is further divided into several counties, each of which is protected and administrated from a central location. There are 34 counties in the entire country. Harllon is the most advanced in its move toward feudalism of all of the Five Nations. It controls all it taxes and each county has one keep or castle with a central authority. The rivers flowing through the country and into the Grindalspar River or directly into the Cyllian Sea are large and provide solid natural barriers to mass movement into and out of the country going west-to-east. Harllon maintains the most professional army of the Five Nations. With large threats to the south and north, this is essentail. It is the wealthiest nation, so can afford the expense of a standing army. It also is unique in that it has a large force of heavy cavalry who are trained in a military wizardry order, The Grand Order of The Red Cape. These soldiers where a distinctive red tunique over their armor to distinguish themselves. The grimoires of this order are a closely guarded secret, and are unique amongst the Five Nations. The city of Southport sits a few miles the north of the Grindalspar River delta. It is the largest city in the Five Nations and provides most of the external revenue for Harllon. Characters from Southport should use the Southport Keyword. There are two other port towns on the Cyllian Sea: Sneedville on the Harllon River and Northport on the Elk River. Both towns see some local commerce, but are mainly used as ports for fishing vessels. Characters using this Keyword: Native Abilities
