This is a species of genetically uplifted dogs (though don't bring up that fact around them!) They tend to be more clannish than humans, because of their pack ancenstry, and have never managed to create large interstellar governments for long. Many are found in the borders of the imperium as citizens.

Vargr Secrets

Secret of Canine Speed

Vargr are both faster than humans, on average, and have better reaction times. Gain a bonus die when in a contest involving these things with non-vargr.

Secret of the Senses

Gain a bonus die to any attempt to discover something through use of either sight or smell.

Secret of Body Weaponry

See Goblin secret of the same name (except this can be taken only once).

Secret of Charisma

Some Vargr are just more able to lead than others for reasons that Vargr cannot explain to other species. All Vargr with this secret will generally be deferred to by Vargr who do not have the secret.

Vargr Keys

Key of Dominance

Vargr are always adjusting their pecking order, trying to move up or down the chain of command. Gain 1XP any time you attempt to show yourself as more important than somebody else. Gain 2XP when you get somebody to defer to you. Gain 5XP if you get somebody to do something dangerous at your command. Buyoff: Submit to another (especially non-Vargr) by taking a subservient role or job.

Key of the Pack Member

Simultaneously Vargr are always following orders of those that are in the pecking order above them. Yes, one can have both Key of Dominance, and Key of the Pack Member. Gain 1XP when you follow an order from somebody appropriately above you. Gain 2XP when you go out of your way to do something for a superior. Gain 5 XP for doing something dangerous to please a superior. Buyoff: Refuse to do what some Vargr with higher charisma tells you to do.

Key of Racial Pride

Many Vargr, understanding that they are genetically engineered, tend to have inferiority complexes, while others compensate with overdeveloped senses of racial pride. Gain 1 XP when your character compares Vargr to other non-vargr species. Gain 2 XP when the character actively competes with somebody to show Vargr superiority. Gain 5 XP when risking something important to show off just how cool the vargr are. Buyoff: Admit to the inferiority complex driving this behavior.
