Riches Beyond Imagination

Nobody knows why the hyperdrive works. You plug in some coordinates, fire it up, and zoom! you're in another star system. The only thing we do know is that it requires a special fuel: an isotope of iridium that's extraordinarily rare. Most of the time, it has to be produced in supercolliders at great cost. The supply is very low, and the demand is enormous: it's vital to commerce, exploration, and military strategy. As a result, the iridium isotope is the most valuable substance in the galaxy.

The Titania system is littered with the stuff. It's all over the place. If you don't pilot your ship right, it might smack into you.

Astronomy

Titania and Oberon comprise a binary star system. They're orbited by proto-planets: zillions of chunks of rock orbiting all over the place, colliding with each other. In a few hundred million years, there will be a proper solar system, but for now it's just enormous rocks and clouds of gas.
