Great Egg is a funny planet, significantly bigger than Caliban but metal-poor so that gravity is similar. It's climate is mild due to the lack of axial tilt and is buffered by the 80% of the surface covered by oceans and seas. It gets its name and its fame from the gigantic, possibly artificial, shield volcano which dominates the largest continent. This volcano, known as Mother Mountain, protrudes right up and out of the atmosphere. From orbit it looks like a huge bullseye, with concentric rings of different sorts of vegetation, lichens, snow, and finally bare rock until it ends in a huge shallow crater. The crater has been turned into a spaceport which caters to many craft which could not otherwise make planet fall. A massive railway runs cars full of air, water, and wood up to Crater City in exchange for metal and hi-tech items.

Location: Human Colony, closer to Remnant alien clans than to Caliban. Environment: Crater City is just another spaceport, domed habitats and air-tight burrows, landing fields and warehouses. Eggland, as the surface of the planet is known, is a balmy place where humans can live without protective gear beyond sunglasses. The thin air takes some getting used to and doesn't protect well against UV, so outsiders need to use sunscreen and glasses.

Settlement: Great Egg is a popular colony, with a quarter of a million human inhabitants and more coming all the time. Aliens are rare outside Crater City.

Notable Character: Havel Shapsko, Mayor of Crater City. He's an old trader and smuggler who was elected by the Egglanders on the grounds that it's best to set a crook to deal with all the other crooks. He's become immensely rich in the process, but also done well by Great Egg. His greatest concern tends to be security, since Navy presence is pretty light this far out. He's spent a chunk of his fortune on buying and renovating old weapons systems to beef up the Crater City defenses.

Rumors:

1. There's a good reason that the alien clans have left Great Egg alone, despite its welcoming nature, and the reason is hidden somewhere in the depths of Mother Mountain.
2. The Egglanders are said to be getting ready to declare their independence from their sponsors, Gausaan Territory, and are looking for new allies before they make their move.
