Background: Chen-Li Heinz came from a low-midclass family on Persephone, which busted ass to send him to med school. Enlisted as an Alliance ground-pounder medic in the War, eventually getting his doctor’s star; known then as a good-natured soul, a good fighter, an up-and-comer, and dedicated healer. Something happened in the latter days of the conflict, something he doesn’t talk about, but when demobbed, he took to drink, still griping about the Independents, and eventually ended up drifting on the Rim. He scrapes by, mostly sober now, selling his skills, mostly shipboard, but no longer on a career path toward much of anywhere – something he wish he knew how to change.
