The city state of Ehrdul is ruled by a Mage-King, the leader of the Magi that follow the Chrenolis Pantheon. The culture is full of byzantine interconnections of social status that tend to be rather impenetrable to outsiders. By contrast the people of Ehrdul find it easy to read the social structures of other socieities. Part of the complexity comes from the dual layers of social structure that put the magi in parallel to the nobility of the city in terms of their influence. Questions of authority are very complex as the interrelation of the magi and nobility is tangled to say the least.

The city of Ehrdul is an ancient port on the Solnangu Sea? that stretches to the south west of the city. The ancient walls of the city are said to predate the "dark times" but records from that period are not to be found. There was also a long period where the city was controlled by Marutan Sea Raiders?, but they were thrown off centuries ago. It was at this point that the magi rose to prominence, the first Mage-King being the individual who delivered the city from the Marutans.

Ehrdul is north of Safa Dimedrin and the other Dimani lands, as well as the savannah cities of the Eurloki, and west of the Kharaj Plains. Patau City and the other lands of those people are to the northeast of Ehrdul, and Sharizek is in the arid lands to the north.
