The Ajzerian Plains are occupied by horse riding nomads who migrate with wild bison herds. The men hunt bison as their main source of food and hides for clothing and shelter. They also hunt an assortment of varieties of deer and other animals when the opportunity presents itself. The women herd sheep and goats as domesticated animals for milk, whool, and occasionally for meat. The women also gather edible plantlife to supplement their diets. Each tribe has a different mixture of hunting and herding for sustenance. The more dependent a tribe is on hunting, the more patriarchal the tribe will be, and frequently the more warlike it will be. The more dependent the tribe is on herding, the more matriarchal it will be. In the far south where the Ajzerian Plains run into the ocean there are miles of coastal swamp lands. The tribes in this region are far less mobile than on the rest of the plains for they can survive on the lush growth in the swamp lands and supplement their meat with quantities of fish and other coastal sea life. In the eastern plains, better rains and richer soil has lead many tribes to settle and convert to year-around agriculture. Keywords for characters from these regions would be considerably different from those given here. Metalworking is virtually unknown in these lands, though the recent wars sent a fair amount of metal booty back with successful mercenaries. Due to the difficulties of moving to the lowlands where the Five Nations are, the contact between the two societies is fairly limited. The Ajzerian Animism religion deals with the spirits of their plains, and is administered by Spirit Talkers of the tribes. Other magic is passed down in families in the form of Ajzerian Chants.
