Description: Tai is a tall, lanky man with a long face that is often split with a wide smile. His straw-blond hair, when not tied back in a ponytail, falls to his shoulders and occasionally blows about in an unseen and unfelt breeze.

While Tai carries the samurai's ceremonial daisho, he more often than not wields a large longbow carved from the finest darkwood. A thin crackle of electricity seems to play up and down the bow's string and when he scores a particularly potent hit with an arrow, a rumble of thunder echoes across the battlefield.

Tai is also quite fleet of foot. In fact, it might even seem like his sandals never actually touch the ground, even when he treads upon newly fallen snow!

BACKGROUND: Why is the character a Ronin? Why does the character need the money from this deal?

Taishi Tai appeared seemingly out of nowhere to assist Lord Mori's forces against the Oni that threatened to swarm the daimyo's prefecture. The archer's abilities were instrumental in turning the tide against the creatures of shadow and, afterwards, Lord Mori offered Tai a place by his side. A self-confessed wanderer, Tai gladly accepted the chance to find a home.

When asked about his background, Tai weaves a story about his young parents dying in a fierce typhoon at sea and himself, a young babe in swaddling clothes, being picked up and carried away by the very winds of the storm themselves. He claims to have been raised by the Lord of the Four Winds, taught the language of the breezes, and given gifts to help him make his way in the mortal world when he came of age. And then, if pressed, he will proceed to show any who care to watch, his ability to walk across the surface of a still pond, like the skitterbugs of the Southlands.

His time with Lord Mori was happy, but brief. It all came to an end when, during a crucial battle against a rival daimyo's forces (one allied to the Shogun), Tai's many powers suddenly failed him. His bow was silent, his sandals touched the earth. His archery skill was still considerable, but it was no better than Lord Mori's best men. However, Mori had pinned all of his hopes on Tai and, without his supernatural aid, the attack failed.

Shamed, Tai left Lord Mori's compound to become ronin and make his peace with the winds that had abandoned him that day. He has taken on the hunt for the Mountain Witch for that purpose and, perhaps, vindicate his own innate abilities...
