The winking lights of the five ships, including Endymion's shuttles, can be seen in the darkness as the ships take off on different paths.

  • Baz Wu, distracted and annoyed by the two bounty hunters on his craft, doesn't do much thinking about Declan Everton, other than to wonder why the hell he didn't have a smarter escape plan that limping along in a land shuttle.
  • In the other shuttle, Lui Kwon takes a brief break from rubbing Mi Tao's lingerie on his face to check the tracker/radar readout. He notices that for the last twenty minutes or so the pattern the land shuttle is flying has repeated.
  • Conclusion: He bailed out.
  • Lui doesn't want to decide whether or to tell the Alliance officer, so he lets the Captain know and leaves it up to her.
  • The captain thinks on it for a bit, then tell Lt. Quillan.
    • Quillan asked Lui Kwon if he isn't just concocting some kind of clever ruse to distract her from the fugitive.
    • Lui Kwon HANDILY convinces her that he is not the "Cunning Ruse" type.

  • Chen-li uses his fancy tools to save Tanaka. Mi Tao assists, blood smeared on her apron and arms. Tanaka's barely conscious. Chen-li has Mi Tao holding a metal tool that is in turn holding the wound open.
  • Whatever fell on him caused internal bleeding and since they don't have imaging equipment here Chen has to operate.
  • Chen pushes the Corporal to get some better medical equipment from the Alliance military base. After some pushing, Grayson reveals that the military base was also bombed at the same time as the factory, and the place is basically chaos -- non-functional.

Quillan decides not to alert the rest of the ships to the fugitive's location. They set down and Ambrose leads the way, grim, tracking the man on foot. His tracking skills are good, but he wasn't prepared for the ambush that Everton set up.

Something *did* alert Lui Kwon, however. He's not surprised when the man jumps out and clubs Ambrose, and kicks him square in the junk before the fugitive can get his hands on the old man's shotgun. This takes the fight right out of Everton, and they haul him back to the shuttle.

Back at the tent, Chen Li? battles for Tanaka's life -- despite the fact that it might not be such a smoking hot idea to let him live; Tanaka is veery curious about Chen's fine medical equipment and drug supply, and Chen doesn't want him asking questions.

The surgery is tricky, but in the end (and with a few heroic efforts on his part), Chen has Tanaka stabilized and unconscious, which should give him enough time to Get. Out.

Quillan doesn't tell the other craft that the fugitive is caught -- let them 'catch' the autopiloting land cruiser. The Captain radios only to Baz Wu to tell him to get back to Endymion, where they will hold the Declan Everton? until they can get the military base working again.

As the two shuttles worth of people converge on the landing just above the cargo bay, Ambrose makes his move. From above everyone on the stairs, he levels a shotgun at the whole entourage and tells them to get out of the way so he can take Everton down (he's griefstriken over his wife.)

  • Quillan tries to talk him down.
  • Lui Kwon tries to gun him down.
  • Everton tries to make a break for it in the chaos.
  • Selene tries to stop Everton.
  • Baz tries to duck.

Results:

  • Lui Kwon wings Ambrose in the hip and the old man's shot goes wide. Baz dives off the stairs behind some crates. Everton tries the same, but Selene smacks him in the head with the butt of her rifle before he can take more than a few steps.
